Kevin mentioned that the front of the white flag is completely full of signatures. The intent of the green flag, is to handle overflow after the white flag is full. I agree that we should begin signing the green flag. If signatures were started on the back side of the white flag, then some of the ink might bleed through and make it illegible.
Bill, the flag has a liner on the inside to minimise bleedthru and will take signatures on the reverse side if you want to continue on the flag. Or start on the green flag (this is thin and will bleed thru) if you want, your choice.
Congrats on your ride and the start of leg 3.

Jim:
Yeah, I thought the flag might have a liner or be a double thickness. I'll double check and let the next person know.
650ed:
Heck, the 476 was nothing... On this same KZ650 I rode from Houston, Texas to Las Cruses, NM in one day. You'll have to Google the distance. Also that was a couple of years ago, when I was only 64 years old. I feel like it might be improper for me to tell the mileage. I will say that I was zombied after arriving.
So Leg 3 is now under way. Next step is to run the flag from Houston to Dallas to meet OKC_Kent, who will ride down from Oklahoma City.

I spoke to WABBMW tonight and we are trying to get something set up for a meet in Dallas, hopefully this weekend. I have contacted MAC68 and 531Blackbanshee who are also in or near Oklahoma and I think that covers Oklahoma.

25 Oct 2012 04:29Great job, Kevin and Bill. Its sure b gratifying to see the flag moving on the third leg.OKC_Kent wrote: I spoke to WABBMW tonight and we are trying to get somecthing set up for a meet in Dallas, hopefully this weekend. 476 miles in day on a naked bike is a looong ride. I did 575 in a day on my KZ1000, but it has a Windjammer, makes a huge difference. Bill should be commended, then hospitalized.

Ij have a plan for the continuation of the route. After Kent gets the flag inOklahoma City, it goes to 531blavkbanshee then Mac68, through theNEcorner of Arkansas to GhrtrodR in Springfeild, Mo. then Snarky30 then to Readytoride1985 then toRainman then crappiehunter, Bert75, BlueJ58, then to loudhvx and ajkzbobber in Chicago.
I dont think it can go that far this year but it might be something to shoot for. When the snow flies we take I break till spring and continue the relay.
Everyone, Get in touch with the riders in your area and settle on meeting places. If any has any questions or suggestions, post them here or call, pm or email me.

Second snow of the season here in Colorado this morning...another 1-3 inches expected by tomorrow morning. Snows already flying out here along the Front Range, no telling what's going on up in Canada. We'll have to coordinate with our friends up north to see how and when the flag goes through Manitoba and Saskatchewan. I'll start trying to gather the troops on this leg and see when the earliest they're willing to try and start south to NM. Glad we're looking at taking a break during the winter months so the guys in Montana and Wyoming won't feel obligated to tell me where to stick the flag!

just a thought but if a flag or flags get snowed in for a season, does it make sense to ship them to the non winter states and reverse the route back towards the winter states, later when it really sets in of course...kinda like cutting a log from two sides and making the cuts meet again...just thinking...drive safe ...oh i forgot you snow folks love that shit

Hey Tri
Wild ass idea, probably med induced.
How about one of the flags goes on original route North, And 2nd Green flag heads toward warm weather.
Then we let them race for states covered and distance covered.
In the spring have them merge back together to finish the Relay

yeah ,just saying ....like folks in the islands...or .....or.....could cover some miles while not cheating the snowbirds outta seat time....
how many flags are there.....should we do a winter plan or tally up thread...see where we are headed...what is left...or is it working just fine with the holder p.m'ing the next mapped rider
