What if the Canadian crew gets it from Maine runs over to Michigan and it drops down from there ?
Are there any states East of Ohio that need to be hit ?

going north to south in leg two does make a bit more sense.

Well it could go north to south but once it hits Mississippi then Leg#3 will have issues from what I saw last time I looked at it and that would probably mean it gets mailed back to Michigan. I'll have to recheck the Leg#3 posting and then re-run Leg#2.

Let me look into that and I'll let you guys know.

I'll contact Wildh2oskier about the Alabama spot too as that should help that segment out a lot hopefully.

ramtough_63 wrote: I know you guys have organived the east and leg 2 but I want to throw this out there why dont me move it west and back down the reason for mailing it back south was that it was gonna make it to newfoundland since it didnt make it that far yet we just move a little west and back down and end this whole thing in newfoundland? kust a thought I havent looked at the map lately but if we kept it this side of Canada til we covered most of the east and midwest then either take it north and let our northern friends do what they can or complete the US and then let them take it for next season?

Where there is a will there is a way this relay does not have to finish anywhere in particular if we skip a spot now doesnt meant it stays skipped

I just hate to see the spirit of this journey compromised by our eagerness to do our part. if that makes any sense

When T_Dub had to drop out I though the same thing you did ramtough. The closest rider to squadrider would be 9AM53 in Moscow or Jonny in Niagra. That would be a nice long ride. If it does go to Jonny, then the planned Canadian section would not have to change. But then the current route would have to change once it hits Michigan so it can go southeast to catch those riders in PA, east Ohio. It would be up to those guys, but a lot of planning has gone into the second leg already. So not everybody would want the route to change. I'm sure that at one point the flag will have to be shipped anyhow. Especially in the vast stretches out West.

I can change my routes, leg, time slot, no big deal to me if it works for everyone else and helps move the flag.

I'd rather change or wait than see it mailed somewhere.

I am pretty flexible whether I pick up the flag from Les or deliver to les it doesnt really change my route I am riding a similar route whether I go south and pick it up or go north first it would only affect the guys at the beginning and the end of leg 2

There are some logistic issues running it north-south but they might not be insurmountable, we had the Pittsburgh to Canada issue still looming for us anyway so I'm liking he reverse route better if we can overcome some of these logistics.

Points to consider;

There is a Maine rider, KZ_Scott, on the map now that is only a day old so is that now the end of Leg#1? Currently the flag is with squadrider so I think Leg#1 needs to clarify where the end will be now.

IF leg#1 ends with this new rider then it would be a 500+ mile distance between him and 9AM53, if it has to go from squadrider to 9AM53 then that distance is starting to get way beyond an over-nighter trip.

Do we know if any of these riders have passports? Have to have that nowadays and it can take 6 weeks to get one on the state side, don't know about Canada.

Once it is in Canada it has a lot of hands to pass thru so not sure when it would get back into the states but assuming the re-entry point is Michigan then instead of going to bluej58 it would go to andy9802gt in Fort Wayne.

From there it gets bit more complicated, the best route would be from there to a midway point for dmiller21283 in New Philadelphia OH, then to Cobura in Morgantown WV, then to hypnohio in Marietta OH, then to me and then to koolaid kid in Indy and then to Les and from that point on it just runs backwards to the original plan.

Once it gets to BlackZ1-R then it goes to Texas and Leg#3 begins however it is running backwards in that leg too so the organizer of leg#3 needs to chime in on what that means for them. That segment from Leg#2 and Leg#3 is between 450-500 miles too.

We can try to keep this going bike to bike without mailing it but the inevitable mailing is going to happen once it gets out of leg#3 into the middle of the country.

9AM53 (Moscow CA) has a comment on his placemarker that his bike isn't currently running. The next closest rider to Squadrider would be Jonny or TeK9iNe near Niagra Falls which is 8 hours of highway riding away.

I just want to acknowledge that Squadrider is already doing a marathon run to get up to Maine and back home. If he's up for another long run to connect to Leg 2 then that would be great. I'd like to avoid shipping as much as possible.

I just want to be sensitive to what's already been asked of Squadrider and let him tell us what he's up for.

I seem to remember someone from upstate NY surface at some point. He had a more modern Kaw, but one based on the KZ. Maybe he could help?

So is KZ-Scott in Maine in or is he out?

I seem to remember someone too being in upstate NY too. That would help cut the ride down to something more manageable. I will ask the Canadians if they are good to go with a reverse route too.

KZScott is out due to mechanical issues. The East Coast will end with Squadrider making a run from Mass through VT NH and into Maine.

Squints is the rider I was thinking of in NY that might be able to help out. He's in Kingston, NY and rides a ZRX P. I'll reach out and find out if he's still willing. Maybe he could be the bridge between leg 1 and 2.

That would be great and I for one don't mind his ride being used as the relay bike.
