I'm hoping to get it up to the Blue Ridge Parkway and take some pics from an overlook.

You can scratch Disney and Panama City, just post pictures of Spring Break.

I would like for Texas to be represented. I live in Houston. Would be nice if other Texans will join in. In other words, I would be willing to ride maybe 300 or 400 miles. Right now it looks like the nearest locations are about Oklahoma City to the North, and New Orleans to the East. So if I rode from Houston to OK City; then to NOLA, and back to Houston, it would be about 1,500 miles.
So I am tentatively signing up.

Thanks! I put you on the map. Don't feel like you're committing to do anything more than whatever you're willing to do when the time comes. TX is a big state. Hopefully there's someone else lurking out there that'll step up to help.
I think most riders are planning to meet half-way.
Anybody else out there thinking of signing up, please add yourself to the map: g.co/maps/32kwq

Need to start putting the 2nd leg of this together so has it been decided yet if the relay is starting in Florida or Maine? If it is going south to north then it will need to be shipped to either KZCM or boatdrinks depending on KZCM being in leg 1 or 2.
If it is going north to south then it probably would be best if it leaves Florida by KZCM then up to boatdrinks and from there north into Canada.
I am posting the 2nd leg thread now, if anyone signed up for Alabama, Tennessee, Kentucky, Indiana, Ohio, West Virginia, Pennsylvania, Ontario Canada and Michigan please look for the North American Relay Ride Leg #2 post for the map and info. Please post a confirmation there as to what part you can cover of the route.
We REALLY need a Mississippi (hopefully around the mid-eastern side of the state) & Western New York near the lake or Erie PA relayer! Also anyone around the Bowling Green Ky area would help make the distances more manageable.
Thanks, Jim

I think the prevailing feeling on the East Coast thread was to go South to North so we can start in March rather than waiting until May.

I'm in New Mexico, ABQ to be exact, but I made a trip from here to Iowa back in October on my kz1100 (2800 miles) so I'm not averse to cruising at triple digits in multiple area codes...
Basically my limitation is $ in relation to how far I can go in either direction. Sorta between jobs (actually a fairly permanent state) so time and distance aren't the real concern. I've driven through the heart of Kansas and the tiniest pit-stop farmtowns in the panhandles of TX and OK without hesitation (but for that stutter that portends a soon-empty tank. Thats a heart-stopper when you've got 5 miles to the next town in oven-baked Texas).

I honestly don't know how fast I was going, officer; My speedo tops out at 85...
