The things we do for the ones we love.... your a good freind for looking after his baby.
Maybe you could throw that v-twin boat anchor away and have Larry C. build you a real engine for it?
If I knew what I was doing all the time life wouldn't be any fun.

Those drag pipes are f*&^%# loud! My brother has a 50's pan head with S&S internals and cams. Drag pipes about as long as that bike, they just bark like crazy. When we take the bikes out I need ear plugs just following him around town. On the highway I make him stay behind me.

hey whats wrong with nostalgia? :woohoo:Tyler wrote: Well apples aren't oranges either...
Look HD makes nice bikes, but very differnt bikes from what most people that frequent this site like to ride. People that really like to "drive" motorcycles feel the shortcommings of the chunky cruisers. The big raod bikes I find very smooth and comfortable, HD has really come along way in the last 20 years. But the price tag is REDICULOUS.
The street bobs and sportsters, on the other hand, are pretty lacking in alot of ways. And the price is still nuts. The screaming eagle Night Rod it a nice looking bike that will haul ass, but agian you have to pay to play with HD.
From a durability, cost, and performance stand point, there is a reason that police bike you drive was built for so many years. Just imagine if HD still built the same crap they made in the Late 70's... not a chance. The competiton between the Japaneese manufacturers in the 70's and 80's produced some of the best bikes ever, others got left far behind and held on to nostalgia. Just the way it is.
remember most of us are riding 30 plus year old bikes, hell i think the oldest car ive got parts for is like a 1914 model T!
im sure the kids over on the gsxr forum are talking about what a bunch of hard headed dinosaur riding fools we are also! :woohoo:

Hey I am one of those kids... Crap! I am turning 30 this summer. :S My Kaws are older than I am. I had Ninja, GS1100, and a V-max for a short time. Some off raod stuff too. I have been riding since I got a YZ-80 for my 6th birthday. Don't know what it is about these 2-valve kawis, but I am just drawn to them. I felt like a kid in a candy store when I bought a 1300 last year. Must have some kind of fetish or something....
My point was that HD goes out of thier way to build bikes that look, sound, and drive like they did 50 years ago. The other manufacuturers have evolved.
z1kzonly,
My brother has that same front end on his '53 pan, think he stole the swing arm form the same bike. Now I know what it came off of. Rides very nice for an old bike.

Its fun to jab at some people though. Weather its the crazy idiots in swarms of rice rockets, the yuppie Harley dorks, or the stuborn brit endlessly kicking over his Nortorn becasue the starter never worked... its all good.
Light the fires and spin the tires!

For real riding, a smooth 4 cant be beat, but for bar hoping and short blasts a gnarly chopper is the way to go, especially on one wheel!
Cheers.
