Thanks guys, I was getting seriously worried after reading that cycle mag header shootout from 1978 or so. the Yosh header placed second to last out of 8-10 exhaust systems in the shootout. Well, if I change my mind and want to run a different exhaust, there is no shortage of members willing to relieve me of my new header
I am glad the consensus is I did not make a finacial blunder, but rather a decent investment B)

That pipe was designed as a drag pipe. It is all high end, it has very little mid range. This is what had it rated as a substandard street pipe.

Which magazine had this header shootout? I'd love to try to find a copy of it.

It's in the file base here kzrider.com/index.php?option=com_docman&...mit=20&limitstart=20 The article is split into 2 PDF's. Kinda hard to read in spots, but you'll get most of the info.

Great info, never read that test. Funny, because I am in the process of building a new pipe because of the big flat spot in the mid range I have with my Yosh (stage I), from about 3.5-4.5K. I have dyno tests with the stock motor, VM29 smoothbores and yosh pipe. Big flat spot. Thought it was fueling. Changed everything else on the bike (ignition, carbs, 1075 kit, cams, Cavanaugh head), flat spot is still there... More power everywhere but still there. I came to the conclusion it's gotta be the pipe. Dyno will tell haha

Thanks for offering the ultimate, but the headers are already done, working on the collector now.

By the way porchev914 $212 is a great deal! I love the way the Yosh looks and I won't get rid of mine either. Just want to experiment with a different exhaust and see what it does...

Then I am infinitely greatful that what I bought wasn't a Series I Yoshi pipe! And thanks to otakar for identifying the pipe. It's scheduled to be delivered tomorrow, so I'll throw a few pics up when it arrives

Cool I hope it is in better shape than mine when I got it, one of the exhaust flanges was missing and the bottom two pipes were dented in front of the collector! I'll post some pics of the pipe I'm working on in my "new stuff" thread.

UPS was my friend today, and delivered my new (to me) Yosh exhaust :woohoo:
It's not in too bad of shape, but you can't expect perfection from a used, 25-30 year old part...right?
The first thing I noticed was the "warped" header flanges frome being over torqued...
