I was just at the BMW bike place, store whatever they call it. Ironic that they had buckets on the floor to catch the leaking roof water and no toilet paper or paper towels in the bathroom but everyone in the store save the mechanics seemed to have this you can't afford it attitude so I will ignore you. The guy very well may have lost out on a sale as I may have so been inclined to buy that new BMW. Long story short they had a ducati street fighter and I was talking with the mechanic while waiting on the clown dick salesmen and he said that the ducati's air cooled bikes were much more reliable than the liquid cooled ones were. But then I spoke to another guy who said they were a maintenance nightmare. Who needs that? More expensive and less reliable. They say those bikes are the best handling ones on the street but I have never ridden one before unless you count a Multistrada or whatever those goofy looking bikes are called. I didn't like it one bit. If it weren't for the cool z bikes with tail fins I would have bought a Monster many years ago. They look nice and old with the trellis frame. An attractive bike for sure buttttt I judge a bike by it's substance and to me if they are unreliable and maintenance intensive who needs em.
I am surprised no one else mentioned the zr1100's. I loved mine. Now that was a nice riding bike. I would actually buy another one if I could find one.

talking with arai59 yesterday about paint and life and music ect....talk came round to modern sportbikes and the ease of no breakdowns on a longer trip.......our bikes are great and we've all had the old it'll be fine posts before....sure is nice to have an all newer set up to turn key morning after after morning on the motels porch...campground ect....beats working on your bike on the side of the interstate while big rigs clip your air space...

any way we both were leading towards a used zx-10r and the amount of them around with 1500-3000 miles for way cheaper than a new bike....a little confining and forced forward...but way in my mindset as a bike i would "put up with"...good tires...set up the bike to suit you...do 300 mile days and see....either way for 5000 you can get a killer 2003-2007 with upgrades and low miles...165 hp...why not...

here is a spy pic of the 2011 z10rrrrrrrr

Sorta surprised no one mentioned the FJR. I imagine there's one in my future, IF, I last long enough to make the "creature comforts" worth while.g

irode a 900 monster and a vtr 1000 honda back to back one day the thing that amazed me about both how skinny and how they both felt like your riding a big dirt bike i had a blast on both riding around the drumheller valley (our badlands) if given the choice between the two i'd have to say the vtr was more fun by just a bit it pulled harder and would wheelie at the drop of a hat. not to mention it was about 5000 grand cheaper definitly the most fun v-twin sportbike i've ever ridden and i have ridden quite a few. mind you i could have been because of where i was riding it to.

I mentioned the FJR1300 as a good motorcycle to actually "ride". John Ryan, the fastest motorcycle "ride" from Pruhdoe Bay, AK to Key West, FL. 5,645 miles in 86.5 hours for an overall average of 65.2mph including close to 400 miles of dirt road on the Dalton Highway. On top of this the 2005 FJR had close to 150,000 miles on it when he left AK.

321,000 miles on KZ's that I can remember. Not going to see any more.

Right now I am itching to ride sooooo bad I would ride a pink gpz1100 that Tri posted earlier. JUST SO I COULD FRIGGIN RIDE!!!! Well, ok that is not much of a sacrifice. I would ride a HONDA FRIGGIN REBEL 250 just so I could friggin ride right now.
I am waiting on Falicon and my gears. Was planning on doing extensive headwork on my bike but that probably would be a good idea to wait till next season to make sure I still have a job.
I have the Itching to Ride Right Now Jonz.

It was 60 here yesterday so I put my battery back in the bike and fired it up. I might sneak in a ride tomorrow for an hour....

As for bikes I'd ride / own. There's never been a bike I wouldn't ride as long as it's roadworthy :)

Hey, you guys have totally ignored my 84 Honda Nighthawk S!

If I had only bought it when I had the chance. One sweet, light ride.

I also like the earlier vmaxes and also the Magnas.

But my next one will probably be a Voyager 12.

I love riding my '98 Valkyrie for the long haul or when my wife needs some fresh air, and my '79 CBX for the solo fun rides. But,even though it's not the fastest bike on the track, the absolute best is my '75 Z1.I love riding it.The sound, the feel(questionable handling-I'm being kind here). It's the best.Over 60 races and still running strong.Sorry about the picture in the middle of the text(my granddaughter says I'm computer retarded). What do expect when you put a 61 year old guy on a 35 year old motorcycle. My wife calls it a recipe for disaster-imagine that?
