That will be good but a little pricey for now. But it is definitely an option in the future.

A Scorpion Alarm system works great.
It even has a ground sensor that will protect any luggage attached to the bike.
2-way transmitter alerts you if your alarm has gone off.
Not cheap,but so worth it.

You can put a larger padlock thru the holes in the rear sprocket - for those of you without drilled discs..I park in my garage but just to make (thieves like big shiny things) sure, I installe pad lock thru holes in disc BEFORE I ever walk into house! If I'm going somewhere that bothers me I will bring pad lock along.

they make a coiled string/cable/rip cord...thingy that goes to the bars to remind sportbikes that they disk locked
I had one and cant remember why I wasnt using it.
The cable through the front wheel and up and over the gauges will keep you from forgetting its there because it blocks the key switch.
Be careful running a cable through the rear wheel. If you forget it can sheer the valve stem and you will have an instant flat and have to go back inside and watch Gilligans Island reruns while your buddies go riding without you........Ask me how I know

As for protection I have a 4 foot and a 5 foot snake, a Great Dane, a wookie ghost and sometimes a Kryptonite lock to keep them safe. I got a Desert Eagle too.... along with 3 safes full of assorted noisemakers and sharp pointed things. Then there is the roving eye of Sauron that automatically summonses the authorities for body retrieval and disposal.
