My Z1 Upside Down in the Parking Lot

Get a call the next day from one of the guys who 'saw' it saying that he was the one who hit my car but that he would pay for repairs, couldn't be more than $500 damage there, yadda yadda. I was ready to kill him, he was smart not to tell me the night it happened or I'd have been stuck with paying his medical bills. Went to the police and filed a report so that he would be forced to do the same, had to go back in and provide some information later and he just happened to be there. He went off on his whole speil about how he'd pay out of pocket but he wanted two quotes and he had to confirm them and a lot of other BS. He didn't want to give me his insurance information so I asked the lady at the counter for it who asked him and he finally let me have it.
Submitted it to his insurance because he was a scumbag who'd never pay, took another month or two for the insurance companies to get their respective thumbs out, repairs ended up being $1600. There's no way scumbag would have agreed to pay that much, and my car isn't worth much more than that.
I heard later from his sister (who i worked with) that he had later hit five more cars, mostly in parking lots because he bought a big new truck and couldn't drive it. Love to see his insurance rates!
Make the insurance companies pay, get your company on his company's ass and don't let off till you have cash in hand, hope you get it fixed

The insurance adjuster called today, but I am out of state untill Sunday. He said I did not have to be home for him to look at it, I told him call me back Monday when I am home. I have limited access to a computer while I am out of town, so I do not have time to do some research on book value. Any one know the book value on a 73 Z1, or some links for some sites to get me in the right direction. Thanks Guys if I was home I would do it myself.

Before I'd let them total it or anything as such....
From what you wrote originally, the damage sucks yes indeed but seems fairly minimal regarding costs to repair...
Of course, see what they can do and take what ever $$$ you can get out of it and just fix the old girls... Freaking lawyers are $$$ sharks and will milk for you way more than it's worth...
See what you can get and get on with it...
Again, sorry brother and I know it's not what you really want to hear but compared to totaling it, the damages just don't seem that large for that but considering our KZ's ages, who knows...
Hope it turns out right for you...

also since it is a "antique" look for someone who can estimate the damage the right way, they dont make them anymore and they should be going up in value.
Since for the most part the damage is not that bad, you should be able to make them repair the bike, and by all means DONT let them total it, and stick you with a salvage title.
Ohh,, not sure about your state, but here we have a law which allows you to collect "diminished value", look into it
goog luck

75 Z1 ~4800
76 KZ900 ~1200
77 KZ900 ~1200
77 KZ1000A ~900
Crazy price jumps there, eh?
Apparently my bikes worth 900.00 at the most. That's retail which is supposed the be real good condition.
You should be pretty good money for your Z1 though.

From what he said they will do a market evaluation nationwide. They will not go by the book value.
He said since it was a 76 it would be worth about $600, I told him it is a 73 and the value is higher from what I have found.(my info came from yall, Thanks Guys) I pleaded to not have it totaled, and he said there was nothing he could do.... I pleaded hard, I told him I have had it for 26 years, I had her before my 2 ex wives and 3 children... I was pleading my case and he showed me his gold Harley ring on his finger.... That made me feel a little better, he rides to so he understands the biker mentality. He also said it is more valuable to me than anyone else in the world and I totally agreed with him... He will do a parts estimate from what he can find online, (ebay, Z1 enterprises, American Classix, etc.) The corporate office will do the market analysis on the value. Because of this he could not tell me if they would total it. I told him I would take the beating and fix it myself to keep it out of total status. He understood but could not tell me outcome because corporate was involved. I would like to thank everyone for the replies to help me on this matter. Mcdroid I will contact you on the data once I recieve it. To Jeff Saunders @ Z1 Enterprises, I gave him your website info and told him to call you also if he had some questions about parts or availability. Once again Thanks to all who contributed to my stressful situation.

One of the main reasons I went with the Street Fighter Theme & conversion.... 73-75, no freaking way would have left it totally stock....
1976/77, dime a dozen, not worth as much so out with the Saw-Zaw....
Well seems as though you'll be fine with that adjuster....
Keep us posted,
