I used to get, "Hey, cool, I used to have one just like that!" or "Is that an LTD? What year?"

Now I get, "WOW! What is that? WOW! Really? Far out!"

"you grew up in a beautiful place"... yes I did, back then it was small and country but that was then and unfortunately, it's not the same.

But I guess they never truly are....

One thing I don;t miss is that damn fog though!

Of all my bikes over the years, the standouts for comments have been (in order of popularity):
Honda CB750K6
Kawi H2A
Kawi 650C2

but I think the 650 is overtaking the H2 because a LOT of guys had a 650 for their first bike, it seems.
Times without number, guys have come up to me (as long as I'm not riding the Bandit) and wanted to talk about the bike I happen to be riding that particular day.
I just love it when the under-25 guys want to know what that "chrome lever on the right hand rear of the engine" is.

KZ650C2 Stock/mint. Goes by "Ace".
H2A Built from a genuine basket case. Yes,it's a hot rod.
GT550A Stock/mint. Pleasant stroker.
2006 Bandit 1200S for easy LD rapid transit
Various H2 projects in the wings.

Oh I would love to re-build an old BSA... Get one of them young studs to try and start that old pig.... Yeah, go ahead, kick her over a few more hundred times, she'll start, keep going...

Ah, that's too funny!

Triumph T140 starting procedure
3x4 tickles, then slip her the pickle(choke), then it's two kicks to the mooon. She starts every time using that formula. Was bro's bike and he taught me that. ;) Never had it happen but he said if it don't start with that go have a coffee then come back and do it again. But never had to. B)

I always get "is that a KZ1000". I have to say no it's a KZ650 but with my motor work I could take my buddies KZ1000 by half a second every time we raced at the track!

I own a HD. It is the bike of my dreams, I have owned 30+ bikes over the years, but any HD I had wouldn't run more than a week until now.

I like HDs because I fit on them, I like all types of motorcycles and have owned many, but never a rocket type bike, as I said, i don't fit on them. Screw the brand loyalists! if the bike is yours and does what you expect it to, what is the problem? The fact of the matter is that many bigger bike are made here in the US, by US workers and have as high a percentage of American parts as the loyalists' brands. The only problem is that the money goes back to Japan.

I do have a problem with lookalike HDs, though. if the company is proud of what it makes, why would they try to be something they are not?

I can't go anywhere and park, I love my 1000 standing out in the crowd of gleaming chrome or cookie cutter crotch rockets. I also like to stand back and watch the bikers look over every inch of the old 77.:cheer:

In all fairness to harley riders. The wife an I took the z1r to town one nite to eat after we ate we made a couple of passes down main street I knew the bike had wiring problems that needed fixing since I bought it.Anyhow as we went along it just died no lights nothing worked I got it off on a side street I didn't have any tools nothing not even a flashlight. As I tried to find the problem this guys pulls up in an old pickup and asked if I needed help I told him I sure did so we got the bike to some light and found that a fuse holder with to big a fuse had melted we took out the fuse and holder and just tied the wires together with tape so I could get it home.
It turns out the guy was an old harley rider and saw me on the side of the road and turned around to help me he told me he spent time on the side of the road and knew what it was like.
This sure made me think its the people not the bike and I will always turn around and help em if they don't want my help cause I'm on a jap bike well its their loss not mine.
He also had a kz back in the day.those guys that started out on kzs or whatever way back when seem to be different then the new riders of today.
