Mid-Ohio this year was in a word....Fantastic!!! I sold my KZ-900 to a really nice guy from Denmark shortly after arriving on Friday and then he spent the rest of the day rounding up most of the needed bits to make it look good again. He spent some money with Jeff and also with my buddy from Johnny's. We changed out the ugly brown seat for a new repro seat and he was able to find one of the missing sidecovers used. I'm really glad I spent the time I did last Monday cleaning the pilot jets. The bike ran so well it made it a pretty easy sale.

Jeff seemed to be doing a good amount of business, Shane got rid of some of his un-needed bits as did I. Roy ended up selling a set of carbs to Oldkaws4ever who rode his Z-1 900 all the way from Chicago. When his bike was at the event it was only hitting on 3 cylinders but with the new set of carbs and Roy working a little of his magic, the bike was running better than it ever has. It's a good thing Jim has a full face helmet, because with the way he was smiling when he left he'd have gained 30 pounds just from the bugs he would have swallowed on the ride back home.

Roy also worked some of his magic on my 79 650 SR that I brought down Saturday. I've had this bike for about 9 months now and from day one this thing has driven me nuts trying to figure out what was wrong with it. While I was trying to get it sorted I managed to catch it on fire (see the thread titled I hate morons for the complete history of this bike). It only took Roy about 15 minutes to figure out that the moron I bought it from had the advancer 180 degrees out. Roy is now my new hero, the bike now starts well and sounds pretty good. I still need to redo the carbs it came with and some other stuff but at least now it runs kinda like it should.

Money tends to burn a hole in my pockets, so on Sunday my mission was to spend some of it. Bought some needed bits from Jeff, I got a smoking deal on a much needed folding aluminium bike ramp so next year I don't have to borrow Shane's to unload my bikes. Then I stumbled across a good deal on an LTD 1000 tank, tail section and front fender. I probably would have, and should have spent more money on stuff but since I partied like a rock star all day Friday and Saturday on Sunday I didn't have the needed energy to hunt stuff down. It's just too easy these days to order stuff off the internet.

I had a fantastic time with the entire crew, made some new friends, made some money and was able to catch up with some old friends as well. I did all this and never made it out of the swap meet area the entire 3 days! I still haven't unloaded the truck yet and I'm feeling a bit tired but I have 362 days to recharge my batteries for next year. Oh and Jeff I carried the mag wheel you left behind home with me, Roy had no room left on his truck and we didn't want to leave it behind for the vultures in the golf carts. Just let me know what you want me to do with it.

Andy, would you happen to remember the guy's name? Being from Denmark (which is only like 16,600 square miles) I might be able to look him up and keep tabs on your bike, would be kinda cool.

After a little sleep events are starting to come back to me.
I carried my son Jamie and he had a blast.
I just concentrated on having a good time.

I carried two milk crates of misc parts and sold "zero"on parts. I gave Oldkawsforever a set of seat hinges.I sold my 50cc Honda pit bike and a 1972 Rupp mini bike.

The guy that bough my KZ1000 last year to export to Australia liked the bike and kept it. That made me feel good.

I got to meet a member of the Z1/Z900 board from Australia. He really enjoyed the meet and is determined to return and race in the vintage races at the track.

I am still one tired puppy.

I took two hours of video and maybe i can get the film put together and posted on you tube.

Thanks OnkelB, I have his business card and we are going to stay in touch. It will be cool to see how well this bike turns out. I think it certainly found a good home, he has a few H2's in his collection now and this bike only has 6000 miles on it now. With some paint, some new spokes, a rechrome on the pipes and all the goodies he has already bought for it I'm sure it will be stunning.

It's sort of funny, that bike was sold new by a local dealer and spent it's entire 32 years in the area now it's going thousands of miles away. I had Roy take a pic of the bike just before he left with it. Once Roy catches up on his sleep and emails it to me I'll post it up. It looks like the name of the town he lives in is Bronderslev. Is that anywhere close to you?

Andy, if you can use the wheel on anything, use it... I would like to see it get used rather than sit in the back of my garage like it has for the last 5 years...
