Hay Gringo, that would make sense about the name but it might also confuse things more for the people who are already looking for the mag. The bublisher better make up his mind fast, or loose a lot of valuabe readers who won't be able to find it.

I'm in for this most definately:woohoo:
Kinda wondering though if he knows how much of a resource this forum could be to the new mag. Not to mention the many of the other sites dedicated to these vintage rides.
There are many of you here, with the knowledge that you have, could be contributing editors to Motorcyclist Retro, or whatever they are calling it.
The closest B&N is 70 miles, but I am hoping it will be worth the trip. Waiting a year for a sub will suck though.

Funny you should say that Dave. I've been communicating with Mitch Boehm the editor about just that. My suggestion was to do a piece about doing a budget rehab on a UJM and I've offered up this latest KZ650 I just got as an example to use. He seems to have some interest in doing it so I'll continue to take pics as I go along.

My thinking is that there have been tons of articles done about 100 point restos on bikes already. Those are nice but since most people that buy magazines don't have the budget of someone like Jay Leno, I think they have a hard time relating. Using an ebay find and breathing life back into it without breaking the bank makes more sense and might make for a more interesting article. JMHO anyway.

Good job Tim on finding the pic of the cover. Clears up the name confusion at very least.

From one of the other threads on this new magazine, Mitch is signed on as a member here. Assuming he did more than post in the forums, he probably has an idea of the resource of this site and the intense interest these bikes have generated.

I have no idea if the other Japanese makes have this kind of interest surrounding them. I could well imagine BMW or Ducati generating this kind of enthusiasm, though.

Actually I don't think it clears it up at all...or at least I'm not clear on it. Is it "Motorcyclist Classic" or is it "Motorcyclist Retro", or are there two different magazines?

And the "Mitch is a member here" thing isn't terribly inspiring as he's only posted twice. That doesn't mean that he doesn't visit regularly, but how hard is it to take 10 seconds to 'chime in' and let some enthusiasts know that the wheels are in motion...if you're checking the site from time-to-time.

I'm not trying to bring anyone down, but my guess is that the guy has plenty on his plate and he hit what he considered to be the obvious sites and planted the seeds and now he's off to 'work his craft'. Maybe a little 'marketing basics'?...I don't know, selling magazines isn't my thing. It's just that I've met the guy and he's nice enough, but also seems like he's got his fingers in a lot of pies...and perhaps that is his enthusiasm. Like I said, I don't know, and I doubt that any of the rest of us actaully 'know' either.

I want the magazine to take off (it would beat the absolite SH*T out of 'Superstreetbike Magazine' or whatever the name of that value-free rag is) but I havn't seen it and - obviously - can't subscribe to it...yet.

If anyone gets one, please post-up as to what the real name is and where you scored it.

Two different magazines...'Motorcycle Classics' has been out for several years now and now 'Motorcyclist Retro', whenever that shows up. Then there is also the 'Vintage Japanese Motorcycle Club' mag...I subscribe to the latter mag, 'Motorcycle Classics', and 'Cycle World', not to mention 'National Geographic' and 'Smithsonian' and 'Journal of Herpetology', 'Herpetological Review', and 'Journal of the International Society of Plastination'... I'm no longer sure I have enough time for yet another stack of reading material.

I hope they get better organized...

I received all the information to advertize in the first issue - then I looked the the cutoff date and it was the very day I received the material - so needless to say, our ad isn't going to be in the first issue.
