If you "boys" are done playing with yourselves, I want to say that at this moment being unemployed has its advantages. I have had the bike out for about two weeks now and have been taking advantage of this nice weather we have been having on-and-off. Blew the winter moths out of it and am continuing braking it in. Put about a hundred miles on it since I pulled it out. (the bike that is) :P

I still play well with others. Well, most of the time if you don't count the Mrs. being P.O'd at me lately. I need a new battery for the KZ. But, I did get my ZRX out for a nice 60 mile jaunt with one of my Rex buddies, WFO Joe last week. I am up for a little early spring ride. I can even play hooky during the week if need be.

Hey Otto. How about making it a Midwest chapter, or a Great Lakes chapter or whatever suits you. Should get you a bigger membership base and more sign ups. On the other hand it wouldn't be conducive to local Sunday morning breakfast rides and the like. Hope your idea takes off like a KZ on steroids. Like to ride with you if I get the chance.

No reason we couldn't have a Great lakes chapter also. This can be on top of the local chapters. Heck with a Great Lakes chapter you can even get "Canucks" into it. :woohoo: Sorry, I just couldn't resist.

Don't know if I did somethhing wrong or it was just a glitch but I tried this once before and my reply dissapeared.
Otto, I was thinking that if you expanded your base you could gst more people interested. Maybe make it a midwest chapter, or a Great Lakes chapter or whatever suits your fancy. It probaly wouldn't work out for local rides or get togethers but I'm sure you could pick up riders for at least part of the longer rides. I've been laid up for the last year with the after effects of chw3mo-therapy but plan on getting back on the old kaw this summer and would love to ride partway with you on your around the lake ride I would bet there are others that feel the same way. I know there are several KZs jn Michigan and probably more in Wisconsin and other states adjacent to the lakes.
Ride safe. Norm

Otto, nice. Just because Tri likes to try different things...
July 9th around the lake. We could meet up and ride around and everyone can have a chance to meet up and ride around. Akin to a relay race. Anyway, if you guys have that time free for a few days consider it. I would love to see more of you guys and ride with you all.

Nothing I woulod like better than to ride part way around the lake with you but one thing I don't want to do is endanger the group if I am not completely ready to ride by that time.
We'll see. There WILL be other rides.

Putting my 79 back in to running order just in case the 80 I can't afford putting back together. You know that whole looming unemployment thing makes people hope for the best and prepare for the worst. Next week I should have it back in running order, of course borrowing a few parts from the 80, rather taking back those parts that were originally on the 79 like the ignition and let's see wheels and hmmm one of the perches and booy set. Maybe I will give you a call Otto and we could ride if the weather permits?
And don't worry Norm just ride your bike and get the confidence going with it. If it feels right by then then go for it, if not there are many other rides.I have a feeling that the whole riding thing this summer will be out of hand as I need the time away from my hormonal wife. She may miss me and treat me nicer than she does if she sees me 24/7 each day of the week and then some.

By the time you ride around the lake it will be almost two years since I have rode a bike. If I can ride this summer (my legs are still weak from the chemo) I want to check out my riding skills and make a decision then. If I decide they are not up to riding with the group maybe I could meet you guys somewhere along US Highway 2 for lunch or breakfast or whatever. If you need some advice about eating places or sights to see I might be of some help.
Ride safe.

Norm,
Hey sorry I took what you said to mean that you were a new rider. Well, bully, glad to see you are a survivor! Would love to meet up and for sure would be ecstatic about going to some nice places as we don't know much about Michigan. Last summer I was about 100 miles in to Michigan before we turned around but I hear great things and wonder what the heck?! What has kept me from exploring North all these years? It is really beautiful and I really look forward to meeting up and hopefully riding with you. I hope you recuperate quickly.

Well, I have been riding since I was about 12 years old. Took some time off from road bikes while the kids were growing up but got back on when they were older. I know I'm not the most skilled rider in the world but I still love it. Not as brave as I used to be in the corners
either.
There are some good eating places up here and quite a few things to see so if you guys let me know what you are interested in I'll try to help. It is a beautiful ride along Highway 2. Miles of sand beach. No place to change into beachware though. So you would have to wear them under your clothes if you want to swim. Or else skinny
dip.
Not too much in the way of twisties up here, Mostly sweeping curves on the secondary roads but there is a stretch of Higway 35 I call the snake that is fun. Lot of blind driveways though so it's not a real high speed run. I I try to get up there a couple of times a summer just for kicks.
Ride safe.
