Decided to ride to work this morning. It was 41*f but the ride was beautifull. This means that in the first two days, March 15&16 I will put on 100mi. Not bad for Chicago.:woohoo:

Those pics put a smile on my face. Still waiting on my parts to get back so I can get my bike a running. And yeah, you have to take the salt off right away or else the aluminum will get pitted.
I won't ride toys for tots after they salt for the first time ever again. The cold doesn't worry me but the mess of a cleanup afterwards is no fun. Even though I thought I cleaned up fairly well I missed some spots and had to repolish my forks. I paid to have it done the first time but now that I got the hang of it I can do it myself. It was b!@#$ to get that salt off and the stains it caused.
Well, I got my tax refund back and by Friday I will be back on track again. I coulda got that zx14 but... I will wait until xmas in Florida and buy one down there and ride it two weeks and then come back and have it for spring. I am so close to paying off my house if I just put all of my spare money in to it that I think I may just wait 1-2 more years and keep my baby in good shape.
We all knows what happens when you buy a new toy. The old toy has problems and so you just ride the new one and neglect the old one. Or at least that is what happened when I bought the ZR1100 I couldn't find a clean tank and the old one had a lot of rust in it and come to find out right after I bought the zr I bought a brand new in the box 76 kz900 tank but it was too late, never got her going because I didn't have space at my apt for her and she needed work so I just stuck with the zr until I lost it in a fire then I got the old lady out and put some money in her to get her going. And it has been a party ever since.:laugh:

Now that I got laid off from the company in Lake Zurich means that I do not put my usual 400mi on the bike each week. this means that I will have to start riding it just for the fun of it. (Like if it wasn't that to begin with) Chicago roads "Look Out"

I just have to finish tuning mine and blead the rear brakes once again, and i will be golden. Otakar, the bike looks awsome now. can't wait to get out and ride with ya.

My Brother who bought a 91 750 zephyr at the end of last season gave me his cosmetics to paint, plus a spare gas tank and front mini fairing. I have to get everything ready this week to pant next weekend. The weekend after next I will be pulling the top end off the GPz and installing all of the goodies i have for it, less the fuel injection.

Awsome, i have to come over and check that bad bones GPZ out. I know the pictures dont do it justice, i remember seeing it when ya first started on it.

Will let you guys know when I get my bike done. Looks like the cam sprockets will be in either Monday or Tuesday. Both days in forecast are called for T-Storms so I guess by the time it is done will be time to ride once again. I can't wait. Been way toooo long to wait.

OK- Who knows someone in the Chicago metro area that welds crank shafts. I would just hate to have to ship a crank out and pay 2x $30 for shipping. That is a total waste.

I will check on it for you. The guy who sent my stuff out to get done sends it to a pro shop close to here. I will ask him and get back to you or you can personally send him an email his name is Yianni his email: elikonpe@gmail.com He is building my motor and should hopefully be finished by Saturday and if he is and it doesn't rain I have to get out and break it in. Well guys- I know that the Groundhog saw it's shadow, but it will almost be that time again. This month will be the BIG show at the Rosemont Expo Center. (I just find it repulsive to call it the "Donald a Stevens Expo Center"). This year we should all get together somewhere and go for a "Vintage Kaw Cruse" somewhere. First we should set up a meeting at a restaurant at some central place. This way we can all discuss what we individually have to finish up so we can go for this ride and assist each other in doing so. Last summer I finished building my engine, making it a 1150 and put about 500mi on the bike. I also finished painting my brothers bike and he had it on the road also. i wound up installing a set of "Mixed Cams' in mine with .420 on intake and .410 on exhaust. It runs like a Raped Ape. Fore some reason it smokes and I have not figured out why. The head had a total rebuild with new valve seals. The cylinders have been "O" ringed so I know it isn't threw there. But regardless it runs very well.
