Another question I should have asked. The Rear M/C seems to be in pretty nice shape.
All the rubbers and seals etc. are soft and pliable. I'm thinking of giving a thorough cleaning and go with that, Thoughts?
The Cap on the reservoir has a bunch of cracks. Is it the same size as some of the other models? The Rear M/C with the hose or the front M/C with the round plastic reservoir.
Thanks in advance.

The front MC is 14 mm, which is 5/8. On the rear, if everything works then don't fiddle with success. By the way, I'm a canuck too.
I have several restored bikes along with a 2006 Goldwing with a sidecar. My wife has a 2019 Suzuki DR 650 for on and off road.

Actually, 5/8" is about 16mm, and the larger piston is typically used on the dual front disc bikes. A 14mm master is used on a single disc front end.

Just for clarity: there are 25.4millimeters in one inch.
So, the formula to convert inches to millimeters:
5/8 (inch) x 25.4mm = 15.875mm
H.

It looks like all of the KZ1000 models in 1978 used the same cap on the rear, as did quite a few other models. You can scroll down the Fitment chart to see exactly which ones.

I replaced my rear brake master cylinder cap with one from a brand new $20 aftermarket master cylinder that looked so cheap we were afraid to use it. The cap is a nice machined aluminum black one.

I see you're front central BC. Are you any where near Hwy 6 from Kaslo to New Denver?

I checked it out. That cap is rare as hens teeth. I even looked up the upgraded prt # , so that includes Ninja's from the early 90s. none avail.
I'll have to do some more hunting. Oh! there is one on flea bay for $90 plus $24 shipping from the UK.

Where abouts did you find that one!? I did see one for about $30. I think it was reservoir, hose and cap. Just have to remember where!!

Yep! Chase sits on the end of Little Shuswap, the start of the East Thompson River. Some of the best salmon fishing in the world is two blocks from my door. Lots of circle routes for us to take on a bike.
I was through Kaslo last summer. We've done that river trail several times over the years. Tried to help the guy in the photo below, who seemed to be stuck. We may be down that way this summer to bike the Kettle Valley Rail Trail. We did Kelowna to Midway last year.
