Cool cowling  i am trying to find one like that .I saw another member here had one on his light blue kz650 ?  i wonder if the diameter on the light house fit a oem kz900 headlamp
This is the same cowl that rstnick is using on his 650, it is made to fit a 7" light so should fit fine (I am using the LED unit in the stock bowl and frame) best part is they are ABS plastic and CHEAP on evilbay

The 650s have a 7" headlight.
An Ebay fairing with yellow shield, painted to match the bike.

I've been pressing on with the nose cone today, got the top mount done now (welding needs cleaning up but none of the bracketry will be visible when the instruments are reinstalled   I didn't want and visible fixings on the outside of the cowl once fitted. It's getting real busy in there

More work done on the nose cone today (there is light at the end of the "fab" tunnel finally) I have built an inner structure at the bottom which has added rigidity and given me somewhere for "captive" fixings which are discreet. I have also added some material to the side opening (only done one side so far) so that I could reshape the opening to replicate the line of the front edge of the fuel tank. It's very raw at the moment but hopefully these kind of details will help achieve the "could have always been that way" look that I am trying to achieve. These side pieces are a PITA as they curve in multiple directions, I found the best way was to get it somewhere near, bond it in then reheat it and clamp it to a steel rule which then achieved the required curvature along the edge. Will just need a light skim to level it off and should be good to go

I have managed to get the nose cone wrapped up today   (only needs final bodyworking for paint) I'm glad I went to the trouble of re-shaping the sides to match the tank as I think it really looks like it belongs there now. I have also added a flange around the openings which I think gives the appearance of a quality part and does a reasonable job of hiding it's "humble origins". A lot of work but can't complain at $50 including the materials to do the mods

Looks great. The curve matches the lines of the tank well, and the concave surface with the mini signals poking out looks really clean.

Thanks Howard, regards colour I have multiple ideas raging in my head. Now the bodywork is pretty much wrapped up I will try drawing out a few ideas (might post it for a second, third, fourth etc opinion)

You going to do a "Chip Foose" drawing

Thanks Howard, my drawing is more "Big Bird" than "Foose" so I will give the link a try
