Warren3200gt: I might have to put the bike through an inspection before I can get plates on it, so I think I'll hold on to the parts I have removed untill then, just to be sure. (Will be around april-may I hope!) I love the look of the new rear fender, so if it's all good, and you're still interested then, the rear fender is yours

Spent a good while cleaning carbs today, turned out good by my standards. I'm not into the "super-clean polished look" I like my parts clean of course, but prefer a little patina.
Before:
After:
Also cleaned them inside and switched to 15 pilots and 110 mains + new gaskets, should be fine with the exhaust I'm running + henry abe airbox. If not I also have 17,5 pilots and 107,5 mains laying around.

I bought a new cover for the right side, the one that was on the bike when I bought it came from a ltd or something. Fixed it up, and it's now ready for paint.

The gas tank had a little bit of rust/rustflakes in it. So I left it with a vinegar essence/water mix overnight, cleaned up pretty good, and doesn't have any leaks. It's currently drying. I will add some fuel with a little oil in it when dry, to "coat" the inside. Afterwards it will be prepped for paint as well.

I'm finally home for easter, aaaaaanaaaaaand it's time for painting!
Spent the whole day today prepping parts, and put on some etch primer on the metal parts + plastic primer on plastic parts.
As stated before, I'm going for a more modern look on the bike, so the chrome had to go.
Black paint on.
Detailed the emblems, and put on 2 layers of clearcoat
Fitted some pre-oiled filter material in the henry abe filter, and mounted both the carbs and filter on the bike.
note: taped off the ends of the filter-"grille" to avoid problems with crosswind/rain which is a normal issue with podfilters.
The tankset alone will have 6 different types of primer/paint on it. Hope it turns out allright

The bread box doesn't suffer side winds as bad as pods, reason being, it has velocity stacks built in..

It doesnt suffer from side wind quite as bad as pods, but it's still more prone to it than with the stock airbox.

Re: 1979 KZ650B Streamlined Restomod
13 Apr 2022 14:40The difference being that ALL the air going into the engine is drawn through the velocity stacks, so its a different scenario to just normal pods...

Finished.
Now I only have to shorten the front fender and get some paint on it + assemble the front forks with some pvc tubing to stiffen it up.
The tankset and everything else will be mounted in may/june.
