Looking super nice! I would keep the mirrors, a set of bar end mirrors will give it a more modern, street look and I think you have made a good job of stepping away from that look.

I agree. I think those mirrors look just right on your build.

I have done about 80 miles on the bike now and still not happy with the front forks, they feel over-damped. I thought I had put 10W fork oil in them but turns out it was 5W.
I think I may have put too much oil in them, I measured the oil when I filled them using amount quoted in the workshop manual BUT I think it was for different forks, the manual shows forks with the threaded caps mine has the caps held in with circlips. Does anyone know how much oil should go in each leg?

I think I have dialled the front fork in now, I had overfilled them. Looked a the KZ440 manual and those are the same as on my KZ400 with the circlips, so I drained them and refilled with 120ml and it feels a lot better. Now to sort the rear although it does seem a bit better now I've put a few miles on her. The Hogan shocks are £146 or £206 with damping adjustment.

Hogan shocks? Is that a new brand (maybe from China)?    I use Hagon shocks and they work really well. Ed

I have fitted the new HAGON shocks and now it rides much better, I went for the ones with adjustable damping in the end.

I took the bike out down a few green-lanes to try out the new Hagon shocks, they worked great, but the forks bottomed-out a few times so might look at progressive forks springs.
Or am I asking too much, it rides great on the road and the bike as never built for off-road use so I might just live with it!

This is how I rigged the choke lever, the high level exhaust pipes are in the way so can now operate both from the left -hand side.

That right side choke lever looks great! I'm going to have to figure out a similar mod on the dual carbs I'm working on.

I needed something to keep my lock and a few tools, so bought some leather and made a side pouch. It works well and does not get in the way!
