So I thought that finishing school would open up all kinds of free time for me to dedicate to my KZ...
Turns out that volleyball for my daughter has been a time-killer...
But I still soldier on, and continue with the project whenever I get the chance....
so....
Doing odds and ends has really become another time drainer... finishing the bodywork to a semi-presentable state has taken me forever.. I'm definitely a better mechanic than body-man...
I did finish my fairing and crash Bars.
Before
During
After (pre-sanding and clear coat)
Crashbar welded and primed (yes I was welding in my balcony)
And painted!

Fixed a leaky carb, and took the opportunity to make sure all floats were properly leveled.
Tried to fix the petcock... kit does not come with diaphragm spring, so I ended up buying a brand new one... (not happy)
Put the finishing touch on the tank. Can you read what it says?
And why not...? Let's put it all together...!
I'm almost there!!!!!

The carbs have been such a pain in the butt.
I replaced only one leaky needle and seat to find out the other three were worn out and sticky.
Opted for replacing the set to avoid myself more tuning grief.
I also found out after much trial and error, that measuring float height on inverted carbs is not always the best method. I disassembled and reassembled my stupid carbs a bunch of times until I got float height just right...Â
Since I'm running pods and a 4-into-1 I also went for larger main jets as my Jet Kit only came with secondaries...Â
Anyhow... SHE'S FINALLY IDLING!!!
Next order of business is to troubleshoot my voltage regulator. I noticed my battery was getting weaker only to find out my running voltage at 11.7V, which definitely tells me the battery's not getting charged. I'm thinking it's a bad connection somewhere, but can't rule out the regulator or even stator.
At this point, this is the only thing keeping me from hitting the road... Can't wait!!!!

It took me nearly three years to get to this point but I was never in a race. I finished my degree and managed to take my daughter to volleyball practices while working on my beloved KZ on every free time on the weekend that I could use.
I still need to address a bit of electrical issues, and will have to pull the engine to fix 2nd gear popping out (i have a brand new transmission from my donor bike waiting for it).
The project is by no means 100% done, but it's good enough where I can take it out on the road...... SHE LIVES, and she has come a long way from the rusty pile I picked out of a tree not so long ago!
I missed the DGR ride by a couple of days, but I am certainly looking forward to next year's ride, and many other rides to come.
I made this boring video to close this thread. Hope you enjoy

Good for you Ed! Sounds like to have your priorities in life lined up! You should be proud of yourself!
Good Luck with motorcycle and always ride safe and defensive!
The Dania caught my eye! Dania Beach? "TARKS" seafood! Crazy Place, try to get there once a year in March. Ducked beer bottles! Stepped out of way of wrestling matches! Pushing and shoving! WTF?!! Wild place. Seen online a few months back? Board of Health shut them down for a spell?
I wonder why. Be there March 2019.
Nice Job! I have always watched your build.

Very nice. I'd use the running lights while riding for safety's sake.
