From the moment I Started this project I set out to do as many of the tasks "in house" :) as much as possible.
I forewent this philosophy with the upolsthery, giving my reshaped seat to a local shop.
I followed Kiwi KZP's idea and trimmed both sides as well as a bit of the top of the foam, to still have a supportive saddle, but not one that looks like a barca lounger.
I ended up with this result. Trust me, the pictures do not do it justice. It's nice....

It is then time to move on to the body.
Started with the rear fender.
Chemical peel

Primer

Base and clear coat:

Not bad for a rattle can job!!!

This was followed by the front fender, which was covered on a really tough coat. As a result, it ended up with a few scratches that I did not get rid of on my haste to finish it. Looks fine from 5ft away, but I will probably scrap or re-paint it down the road. I am sort of partial to chrome fenders... we'll see what the future brings.
Front and back fenders:

This is the state of my living room.

Wife is out of town, so the KZ has taken over!!!!!!!!!!!

Moved on to the tank.
Chemical peel

This tank was covered with two coats of super heavy duty paint. It took several coats of paint remover, lots of scraping, and a lot of swearing to take it down to the metal.

Life of a single parent is not easy. I have been chipping away at the tank for the last few nights in order to fill a the dent, and get rid of as many low spots as possible...
It's a work in progress, but I'm getting Close!!!

Enjoying the build Ed. Hard to believe you are doing this in an apartment. Is the plan to take it all apart to get it out there?

Luckily it will fit in the elevator as it sits on the dolly.
I figure I am 1-2 weeks away from taking it out.
Excited!!

I have been taking of the odds and ends, and all the stuff that I had left for later, such as rebuilding the brakes and rebuilding my petcock.

Doing bodywork has certainly tested my skills and patience, but I have slowly become more proficient as I go. At this moment I have to refinish the tank and fairing. I will eventually circle back to the front fender, since it came out extremely crappy... oh well... live and learn...

But....
I do have great news!!!
The bike is out of my balcony and has finally made it to ground floor...

I had to sneak it out of my place at 5:00AM to avoid prying eyes, but she's finally OUT OUT OUT!!!

It's a mystery...
I bought a Honda Rebel for the wife and that pillion was included in the package. It doesn't fit a Rebel, so your guess is as good as mine...
