DOT 4 is just a better DOT 3. TThey can be used completely interchangeably with each other. Valvoline only sells DOT 4 now and the label says "DOT 3 & 4" . DOT 4 is more heat resistant and less prone to absorbing moisture. Go with DOT 4 and stick with it.

DOT 5 is synthetic and can cause problems with seals and brake lines depending on construction and configuration, A complete overhaul and upgrade would be in order to use DOT 5.

When you guys get together, can you see about taking some action video of the bikes cruising together. Maybe have a friend with a chase bike taking video of the two of you. Two unique killer KZzzzz's side-by-side!!! Would make a great video.

Wow, looking very nice, & sounds Great, I think we bought our pipes the same week, 2-3 yrs. ago mine are still in the box waiting to get my project going
As far as the brake fluid goes, 4theKZ1000 got a leak in his rear M/C a year or 2 ago & it destroyed his freshly painted swing arm & some chrome, so he said he switched to DOT 5, which will not harm paint or chrome, that's what I think I'm going to use when I rebuild the M/Cs & calipers on my project to be on the safe side
cant wait for more Pics, & videos of your BAD ASS Project, looks like you're almost done, B) :woohoo:

Minor set back. I put my chain on tonight and uncovered a clearance issue. I pulled a nut off the rearsets stud. Does this stud come out? If not I cut it off and move on. I can't tell because of the powder coat.

The studs screw out of the frame. I use a pair of vise-locks on them to break them free but I'm sure there are gentler methods.

It will come out but the chain will slap against the bushing when loose.
