almost stock....soon to be streetfighter

Beginning the transformation of my 78 LTD into streetfighter. Have solo corbin seat, new handlebars on the way, and new 4-2 side exit exhaust on the way. Ordered clubman and superbike bars to see which i prefer. Dual headlights will be next purchase. And trying to get 4.4gal tank if someone doesn't hijack it like last one from me with 30sec left.

Got my seat. Will put it on tomorrow with pics shortly after. :woohoo: finally have tracking numbers for other parts. In couple weeks should be looking sweet! Now just hope wife doesn't inquire bout money from account.

Corbin solo gunfighter installed. Not the style direction i was planning to go...but now that i have seat plan to go all hot rod style with bike. Someone tell me how to put pics directly on post?

yeah I'm not crazy about the seat either but the bike may unfold around it.

what kind of plans do you have? mine started out as a get it running and ride it
now I have the desease

yeah the flame job wasn't they way i was going , but couldn't resist the price,"half what new one cost", already have 4-2 turnouts coming, crossover style. and plan on dual 4.5 lights. now that i have flame seat will continue with that theme on the tank and maybe a few flame trails on the tail of bike. rear fender will be coming off when i order new led tail light, dual round style to go with headlights. still waiting on delivery of my bars to see which i prefer. once everything is in place i'd like to paint it that "black denim" that comes on the new harleys with the flames of course. i see it as an old school hot rod streetfighter. crotch rocket guys at work love my bike, can't wait to show em you don't need a new bike to look good and still haul arse. and after what my buddy told me his insurance was for a year on his new rocket vs what i pay....i could buy an old bike every year and still have insurance money to spare. :woohoo:

short story made long about this bike. back in the day my dad had a 72 honda cb500-4. when i deciding to finally spend some money on a bike that was what i was looking for, or the bigger cb750-4. i was out of town with my family for an uncle's funeral and staying at a hotel. i was in dad's room talking to him about how that was what i was going to buy. when we headed out to go to the viewing i saw this old inline four across the street at a garage/shop for sale and i thought there's my honda. drove straight over to it, with wife wondering what i was doing, and saw it was the kaw1000. got out, guy came over and we started talking. talked him down to $1800 for it and got back in truck, to a furious wife when i told her i had just bought it and would pick it up next day. didn't really know anything bout these bikes, like i said i had been researching the honda fours. but when i started looking it up i was really proud of my choice and grateful. had no idea i was buying the fastest production bike of the 70's. now i don't stop telling people how bad arse this bike was then and still runs with the rockets today, at least the one's 650cc or less anywho, love my bike. when wife asked me what i was going to do with it after i bought the vulcan, i said, "keep it", "it's a collectable". and as long as i'm working out of town and she can't see the money i'm spending on it the pics and progress toward my vision will continue. thanks for following and as the parts arrive and i get them on the pics will follow.

Btw. That $1800 bought me a bike with 18k mi on it, spare ltd tank, and vetter fairing, crs carbs, and the 4-1 kerker exhaust already on it
