Ok ok last non Zed related post i promise......
Workbench is getting there, still haven't folded up the top yet.
Also mounted up the little XR100 engine in the KX80
I rekon this little bike will be a blast on trail rides, looking around you seem to be able to get some surprising power out of the little donk.
I made a new engine cradle out of an old KDX200 frame i had lying around
the engine sure is tight in there, i had to cut away a big lump fro the tank that i will now have to plastic weld up and will need to shave a few cooling fins on the front of the head for clearance...

Hey guys,
Ok so thing are moving again, i have power on in my shed now so it frees up a bit of time at night to work on the zed.
The swingarm came off today and will be going in to have a thin weld put on the axle slide and brake hanger so i can file them back to accommodate the smaller 25mm Ducati axle, that way i dont have to have annoying bushes that will love to fall out.
Also after some opinions, should i............?

Good to see things moving again. As for the turbo see if you can't get some info on the model if you can. I know the seller states that he doesn't know but see if they can find a serial number or A/R or something before buying it.

Now that the Zed is standing on its own its time to focus on the fine tuning of the wheels so the swinger is off at the welders to be bushed down to 25mm, while its there im getting to work on the axle blocks as the 25mm ones i have are too small for the R1 swingarm.
Now i have these.
And annoyingly i cant to any more till i get the arm back...
So i did a bit of work on my bike trailer...

OK
Time for an update,
Got my swinger back from the alloy welders this morning
So i got to work on it straight away, first filing back the sides to give me a nice flat surface to mark on
Then to file it back to 25mm
Then the same with the calliper hanger, this took a lot longer as i could not get my hands on a 25mm drill bit so a round file it was.....
And the moment i finally got it in the hole......
I still need to do the new adjuster blocks but now it sits nice and tight!
And here we are.... An R1 swingarm with a zx9R axle holding a Ducati sports classic wheel to go into a 1979 Zed1000
It may look like a small achievement but what you see before you is hours and hours of deliberation, filing, sanding and head scratching.
Now that it is done I'm so glad i have done it this way and dont have bushes in the back to downsize everything, less components make life so much easier
