and here is my second tail attempt. I will post a pic of the first one later it is cone shaped and this second one is probably too angular? What do you guys think?

taking the dip outta the back part of the subframe is probably going to be the best way to clean up the frame lines.some guys use some square tubing on the bottom of the cafe seat tails to level em up.but i think that is kinda an "erector set" approach and would rather cut the offending tubes out and put some new ones back in level.
i do think the tail section is too boxey.

that's my .02  .

keep us posted,

leon

Unfortunately I had to sell the RD. It was a fun bike that I wish I still had.
The smallest die I have for my tube bender is 1". Not sure if that would work to remove the dip. I need to put some calipers on the frame when I get home. I should just bite the bullet and order a tail. I've spent hours building 2 and one is too square and the other too round. Thanks for your honest opinion Leon.

if you reconstruct your rear section using say .120 wall 1"o.d. dom tube it would be plenty strong and still look good.just a lil sexier is all  .

I have 3 sticks of 1in .120 wall on the rack in my barn. It's electro weld but it will probably be fine if I gusset it well. I'm going to work the bike over with the tape measure and see which tails dimensions will work best. Any one have experience with roc city? I like that they have seats available for the tails they sell. I'm an hour or so from any upholstery places.

I did a few searches but I couldn't find any builds where someone cut the dip out of the frame. Can anyone point me in the right direction? I would like to see some pics of what they did where the tubes come together at the rear shock mount.
Thanks
Selby

For a cafe seat would the tail tube angle up like that or should I loop it closer to the shock mounts and keep it flat? I really appreciate the help Leon. I'm going to wait till I have a seat in my hands to start cutting.

i would want the tubing to match the seat/tailpiece as much as possible.
you can either tuck it up under the edges of the seat/tail or have the tube just right under the edge.like this bike from the ad you posted.

you may want to build a battery box or stash box into the tail as well so you would incorporate that into your custom subframe.
