Wow! :woohoo: Great score, is the frame chrome moly or what type of material did they use back then. Those frames are getting pretty rare.

That's the next step in my kz build...stress the engine and make a nifty spondon style frame.
Way cool. Bet this thing will handle like a dream

Cheers chaps .....
The frame is a Magnum 1, built in Oct 1981 for a Z900/1000 motor.
Made of Reynolds 531 & T45 - hand brazed and pure lushness
I've sold off the Gixxer front end and the Ducati rear - everyone had a spate of fitting s/sided swingarms and I want this one looking a bit retro
Managed to score a few "trinkets".....
None of it is a "straight fit" so some engineering work was needed by my local people.. www.talon-eng.co.uk/

So, whats next - ahhhh yes..... I've had to get the lower rear motor lugs brazed back on and took the frame and swingarm to TALON for an estimate to trim 7mm off each side of the JMC & make a spindle sleeve - as the Harris spindle is 20mm & the needle bearings are 25mm  They said it would be about a days work (setting up the machines takes a while) and £250 max. I could get it done a bit cheaper, but I want this work done right!!!
In the mean time I've made some card board templates of the lower rear engine mounts, to line up with the lugs..... I had some 10mm ally plate which I'll cut out for the brackets.
I also took Mr JigSaw to the Zed Butt unit & hacked a bit of fiberglass off....
The JMC is sitting ON the pivot in those shots and the rear end is sitting rather low.
I'll make some brackets and make sure the seat is nice and firm to support the rider
I dropped a few bits off to Mikey (the polisher) and took the cam cover off - so I could get my first glimpse of the motor internals....
..... as luck would have it, the top end looks good, the cams are mint and the clearances are spot on As you can also see, the cam caps have the standard bolts fitted - so hopefully no surprises there!
I think I'll be doing the minimal mechanical work and just give it a thorough service, a bit of a clean up and run it

I'll show you the engine brackets I'm making - then you'll understand
I build my own engines - but don't have any welding or machining equipment - and you may like using a bastard file to trim stuff- but I wanted it done right, not bodged.

At first i wondered why u would remove such a cool SSSA .
but after seeing plan b, i thought, OHHH YAAAA!!
u just cant find a nicer looking arm than a JMC. SOOOO SWEET .
This is going to be a winner.
