Wow, Glad to see you're back at it Jack. Love the Camaro. I remember I had seen as show on Discovery about a place in Tampa that restores Camaro's. They had a beautiful renditions of a 69 Camaro (Bumble Bee) convertible with flared wheel wells and roller bars all first class from the ground up. Tried to find it but couldn't. Anyhow, here is a something for inspiration from another shop in Tampa: 1969 Camaro .Don't think they are the same people I was thinking of, but this is definitely first rate.

u r doing a fantastic job.
can u tell me what u used on the wire ends going into the control box? i see red ends on 1 side and black on the other. r these simply ,bare metal connectors with colour coded (red/blk) heat shrink?
simple things like this make the whole job look so pro.
where do u get the quality small stuff like this?
i am contemplating a rewire over the winter, and find your impeccable workmanship to be an inspiration .
my bike is a 76 with 1 fuse. i am debating weather to buy a later model 3 fuse harness or to start from scratch. i need to keep the cost down, but want it to look pro like yours.

Thanks for sharing so much detail. B)

Thanks guys, will be a fun one. I am sure I will start a build thread, probably over on the Pro Touring site. In the meantime we are talking a little Fab here..

Mark,

Thanks for the kind words, it can be and is a tedious time consuming process, BUT in the end its worth it. I have tried HARD to keep it neat and organized. I still have not wrapped the wires yet and won't until I test run the bike. Once I do I will harness wrap the wires and it will look like a complete wiring harness for the bike. Will be really nice.

The connectors I use are actually just miniature insulated spade connectors. I usually buy them online, but believe it or not I have actually purchased some at RS and ACE.

I crimp and solder every connection, and heat shrink a lot of them.

You can definitely clean things up a bit but if you plan on doing it, just give yourself about twice as much time as you think it will take you. LOL

BTW, is you need any detail shots, etc just let me know.

Jack

I just started a new thread to discuss my current dilemma. if u have some advice please join in.

my electrical knowledge is at a novice level, but when i want to do something, i tend to dive in at the deep-end and learn as i go. having a great knowledge base at KZR, including guys like yourself, makes it easier for guys like me, to swim rather than sink.

Some good news to report. I finished wiring in all the ignition setup and have validated that the stock pickups WILL fire the MS outputs... I had suspected that they would, but could not verify until now. I am gonna try and poor some fuel to her tomorrow and see if she cranks.. woo hoo.

Hi, new to the forum but old lurker, I love the ideas you've come up with on this bike, mostly the M-unit. Being able to make your own simple harness and the options this thing offers makes the $300 price seem very resonable, especially if you have a ratty butched up harness. I will be getting one of these for sure, might even get the M-lock and mount the reciever in the old switch housing on my trees, if not I'll just mount a gauge there and remote mount the reciever like you did. Great bike, Great build and Great thread, kudos to you sir.

Thanks I appreciate it.. The M-Unit is great, and really made things pretty damn simple. Hell if I can do it anyone can, lol. Been a fun project and really looking forward to getting it on the ground real soon.

SHE LIVES!!! Well kinda...

I got her to fire up today and idle, but not very well. Went to fire up my laptop up to tune it and it took a crap on me, so I lost my config that I had already setup for it, so I had to start from scratch.

I have to work on some of the timing settings as its way off and for the life of me I can't recall how I had the secondary ignition pickup set. Any input? Isn't is suppose to be a negative or something? I will have to poor back through the docs and see if I can find it again, but if anyone has any insight on the ignition parameters it would help.

Thanks,

Jack

I don't know if this is the same version of your mircosquirt but it seems to have what you're looking for if you are running the dual spark setup.
MicroSquirt Dual Spark
This may help too, theres a few links to stuff that may be easier to find than flipping through a manual.
MicroSquirt QuickStart
BTW I wanted to ask what battery are you using? Looks like some type of sealed unit?
