when building from the ground up,you will feel like a total dumbass if you did not build it exactly like you want it.
as few compromises as possible and you will be as happy as can be.
good luck,

Hmmm, ok here's the stupid question of the day...
You have to fab up the upper and possibly lower shock mounts (weld to frame) and you already powder coated the frame...
How's that going to work out?
Oops, one more ?....
Larry had to stretch the frame out to get his ZX7 swing arm in place, possible different years where you'll be ok but have to ask just the same....
Does your swing arm slide into position at the pivot tube/frame locations?
Pretty much everyone of us that went this route had some sort or more (PITA conversion/fabbing/welding/stretching etc...) to get this all right...
Oops again...
With Mono setup, requires electrical/battery bay modifications as well...
Do your self a big favor here young one.... Put that beautiful powder coated swing arm on it, get yourself some nice piggy back shocks and be done with it (for now)....
Being your first build, go for performance/fine tuned engine... Next build (and there will be a next one trust us) go for the mods/whatever...
Or find a Titled frame and start over the right way by taking your time, thinking it out, measuring, aligning, cutting, welding etc...
OMR

Not a good photo but if you look close, you'll see how much the frame had to spread to get the 7 arm in there. It would'nt fit until I cut the frame.
Also had to cut off the lower frame tubes where pass pegs and exhaust hangers were.
Fitting 96 ZX7 suspension is a LOT of work. Go with a 6 arm...
