Hey peeps.

Here's where I'm at - the loom is going in! The main supply feed to the Motogadget is probably too thick gauge - but fused to the correct amps. Bluetooth iPhone start and transponder keyless start both wired in!

Your electrical box looks absolutely gorgeous (looks like you spent quite a while designing it), as does the whole bike. That integral rear reservoir brake fluid holder is a great ideaI. I am still loving that colour you chose.

Sure dude.

MotoGadget's own M-Lock keyless start is great - only works with an M-Unit tho.
motogadget.com/en/electrics/rfid-ignitio...fid-zundschloss.html

For smartphone start I'm using a simple $45 bluetooth relay to trigger the main starter relay. Its not really an automotive part as its 5V (step down needed and available from the same site). It can transmit other information to the phone app tho - such as engine temp by using their breakout temp sensor.

Here's the loom.

Its all mainly to keep the bike as clean as possible with no clocks or gauges.

Here's a video I shot of the project so far.

Does the remote starter have a lockout if the bike is not in neutral just in case someone screws around with the bike and leaves the tranny in 1st or 2nd gear? I've seen a Yamaha XS750 hop off its side stand and crunch into the gravel parking lot when that happened. Surprised the heck out of the owner and damaged the tank. :( Ed

Yeah the starter relay will be wired into the Neutral switch.

Annoying but necessary I guess.

Re: Z800 Cafe Fighter Chopper thing LOOM GOING IN

Hello all.

Yes, the world's longest Z build is alive and well, just been in hibernation due to all kinds of boring nonsense.

BUT! I have to get it on the road this spring as the garage where the build is kept is being demolished. So even if I don't complete it myself I'll hand it over to my engine builder to complete - he also does lots of custom work / fabrications so hopefully it will be on the road by April!

A quick question to get the ball rolling again.

I'm just putting the finishing touches to the loom which is made from scratch. I'm wiring in the Reg/Rec and have a few questions about cable colours and how it plugs in.

I'm using an aftermarket Reg/Rec for a Z650 with 3 Yellow wires, 1 Brown, 1 Black and 1 White. Can anyone confirm that the below is correct:

3 Yellows TO Stator / Generator
1 Brown TO Battery+ terminal - This is the charging wire and should be fused?
1 Black TO GROUND - Direct to Battery- Terminal or any good ground point?
1 White TO ? This is the control wire I think to regulate charging current - where should enter the circuit? I'm using keyless ignition managed by a MotoGadget unit so the ignition circuit is not straightforward.

Help appreciated! Pics on the way.

The various Z650 years/models used several very different charging system setups; the link below shows wiring diagrams for the various models. If you know for sure which model did your KZ650 engine is from you may be able to use one of the diagrams to sort things out. The diagram for the KZ650-H2 may be the one that most closely resembles the number and color of wires you mentioned, although even that one is not an exact match. Ed
