Yeah I always thought the sheet metal cup thing was supposed to be the top seal myself anyway.893cv wrote: I've never seen any of the OEM's use a seal on the top bearing! I wonder if any of them do?
Are you sure that top race is all the way in?
Seems a little high to me anyway, maybe check part number to make sure its the right part

Anyway does the bearing sit close to flush without that big ol seal on top of it?Maybe that's why it doesn't look right to me

I don't like the foldy tab things much. Thought about leaving them out and buying some locking nuts instead. But... as you all know I'm trying to save bucks on this build, so I decided to polish everything up and use it. Also - this way I got something DONE instead of creating another delay.
Before disassembly I noticed the sprocket teeth were mostly black from chain grease. So I painted the sprocket black in hopes it will sort of "match" the teeth as soon as the paint wears off the teeth.

The bearings fit just fine. It's only the seal that is odd. Perhaps this kit includes a top seal that is used on other bikes but not even intended for the KZ.
I found an oring that fills the gap perfectly. The triple clamps are on now, sealed, and all is well.

As long as you are using the correct base and head gasket thickness the squish will be correct and the engine will run fine.
Regards,
Al
Yesterday I responded by asking for the recommended squish for these pistons, and he hasn't responded yet.
