I still can't believe you got such a deal on that! The motor is a 79 or 80 and looks like the MKII motor except it's not black. I can't remember if the motor numbers were different for the LTD and MKII models - anyone know? My MKII original has a KZT00AE in the motor number.

Most of the parts are stock MKII for sure - fenders, bodywork, seat, wheels, frame, etc... It should have a 160 speedo with a white mph scale and a blue kph scale underneath. The turn signals are from a regular KZ, not correct for the MKII. The shocks and rear sprocket are aftermarket also.

The entire front end looks correct - black fork bottoms, black headlight ears mounted on the forks, black headlight bucket, black gauges, no chrome cover on the front brake splitter (as is correct, it was added in 1980), still has original grab bar (should have one on left side only), carbs should be 28mm pumpers, airbox looks correct, should have electronic ignition (first year for the kz1000), master cylinders brake discs and calipers all look correct too.

Even the factory chainguard is correct! There can't be many of those left. You can triple your money over night without even trying...

i think i wanna go with the black and gold(they made a body like that) and do a bit of era roadracer stuff to it...but as far as the chain gaurd and amy's grab rails cool...the little stuff like signals and instruments ect...over time i can try and aquire....piece at a time...the rims say enkie,,,,and it flat out howls...even a dented kerker is a fond memory sensastion,,,my suertrap is not as throaty...but the p.o has the kerker gutted with just the cap self-tapered on.....

when i was 19-20 i worked at a shop and got two complete bodies...one red and gold with the mk11 on th covers and one black and gold with big letter KZ1000 on the sides and no MK11 underneath the kz....two complete body sets with seats ...new in the boxes...for two cases of bottle corona...and two limes.....

easy come easy go.....


they were the last of ten body sets that were not part of a ten bike purchase by craig vetter ...to build the #1----#10 mystery ships........

and as a coincidence...i got the vintage cycle ,,with a mystery #4 and a bimota both a MK11 engines... in the mail today..
