y do u need stainless j valves ? why not stock J's?
manley and kimblewhite make 37.5mm stainless for a kz. ive had both.

I suppose I don't need stainless valves, but Larry C was very specific; Kibblewhite .500" lift valvesprings, viton stem seals, stainless steel 37.5mm J model intake valves and 30mm standard Kz exhaust valves, Ape or Kibblewhite guides.

Kibblewhite doesn not offer a J model 37.5mm intake valve, only a 38.5mm. They do offer the standard Kz intake in 37.5mm, but Larry wants the shorter J model valve stem. I'll take a look at Manley Mark :)

can't larry cut down the 38.5's to use as 37.5's?
kibblewhite will custom build anything.i had them build some custom valves for a honda i worked over.they were $50.00 bucks apiece and i had to wait but they got them to me fairly quickly considering.

I saw that Kibblewhite does custom stuff, I'm just too cheap to pay for it :P Larry could cut down 38.5 valves....I was just trying to find what he asked for. He did spec Kibblewhite stainless valves, I'm suprised he didn't know they don't list what he asked me to get.

just touch base with Larry. he would not ask u to get something that is not available . there will be a simple explanation, i'm sure. i used kz valves, in my kz head.

Adam take a look at the Ferrea valves I have used them in a few motors over the years with good results. And they will custom make what you want.

Thanks RS, I did check Ferrea, but it was the same deal, they carry the 38.5mm valves, but not the 37.5mm J valves. It's fine, I'll call Larry and see what he thinks. In the mean time, I have still been trying to cobble together a welding cart for the plasma and crippled tig welder in order to make enough floor space to work around my bike. Soon, I'll be able to take the frame stand/jig out and the bike will stand on its own two wheels once my triples arrive :woohoo: The cart isn't finished yet....I'm about 70% complete. The welder on the top is actually sitting on a storage shelf, and I still need to reinforce that shelf as well as cut out/weld in a top shelf for the welder. Other than that, it's strong, light and rolls smoooooooooth B)

Since kz1k's thread about frame colors, I have giving much more though about what color I plan to make my frame. Once upon a time I thought I would do silver, but I have a very silver engine and plan to leave it that way, so I figured there wouldn't be enough of a contrast to look good. Then I figured I would just go with the old Henry Ford standby, but then I saw TK's powdercoated frame in Joe's thread and it got me wondering......So, I think I will find some dark copper colored paint that is similar to the color of my fork tube anodizing:

I'll put a rattle can on the frame and mock it up on the roller with the bare cases, carbon tank/sidecover (note to self, get a prototype tail made). Then I can decide if it'll fly or not. MAN this is exciting

great job on the cart.B)
i believe i read Larry saying that stock J 37mm valves, where a good inexpensive upgrade to the kz head, rather than the extra cost of the 37.5 stainless valves.u could even find good used valves.
when u use 37.5 valves in a kz head u have to sink the valve by grinding down the seat. then the valve is too long for the available shimms, so u must grind the valves stem shorter.
the J valve would save a little labor cost as well.
i am just going by memory hear but i think that the stock J valve was the option.
I'll have to find that frame color thread. the goldish color sound like an interesting idea.:)

I've had my wheel over a month and I can't belive it's taken me this long to put it on the bike! I don't have irishwills triples yet, so I slapped the forks on with the stockers, and tossed the carbon tank on for good measure. Sorry the pic is taken in my cramped garage, but it's been raining quite a bit lately.....rather unusual for December. Otherwise I would have rolled her out into the sun for a better shot B)
