OK, I'm going to put it to a vote. The tongue n' groove joint on the left.....the lap loint on the right. Which is better and why?
Of these two I would vote for the one on the right. The thicker plates will distribute the load over a larger surface area on the bolt. I could see those thinner side plates cutting into the bolt over time due to vibration. Obviously use grade 8 or 12.9 metric bolts, and I would like to see loctite, or lock washers, or safety wired. Unless you want an ejector seat. :ohmy:

All 4 of the subframe bolts will be safety wired The subframe bolts on my YZF all have lock nuts, so it's kinda important those bolts stay put :laugh:
I figured that you if anyone would know of the dangers of self loosening fasteners. You ought to see what fanatics the NASA boys are about fasteners.

perhaps .
simple clean,all the weight is in shear.so it is strong and lite.

I should have saved the carbon body work as a side project after I got the bike back together, but I'm having too much fun being broke and learning :woohoo:
