No eBay APP ID and/or Cert ID defined in Kunena configurationIt's been almost a month since I updated my project thread  The good news is I have been able to get a few of the parts I still needed (plus add a few new tools to the stable). I spoke with irishwill yesterday, and he will be sending me his custom triple tree when he gets back from the field in a week or so. I found a reasonable front wheel on ebay for a C note, but of course it didn't have any disks. Thats fine, I wanted disks with a little more pizzaz anyway. So I picked up these:
So with irishwills triples in a few weeks and my frame just about complete, I should have a roller by the end of the month. I also spoke with Larry C this afternoon to get a run down of the parts I needed to get my head rebuild/ported. Hopefully I can get the parts sourced quickly and get the head off to Larry soon :)

Uh oh, the carbon fiber junkies are gonna be jonesing when your parts and welder get here. I'm happy for you that you are starting to get back on track financially. I guess all that work is starting to reap some rewards. I know that I took a lot of inspiration when my bike got to the roller stage.

Yes, the carbon followers will have to suffice with slower progress. Really it won't be because I'm working on my bike, it'll be because I'm working at my day job. My front wheel is on it's way from Fort Worth and due Friday. My disks are here in LA, so they should be here tomorrow or Thursday. Once the wheel and disks show up I'll slap the front on with the stock triples and the complete rear end- add my trial carbon tank for good measure and sit down with a cold one and ponder the meaning of the universe.....You're right, once my welder shows up, I'll need to make a new welding cart to hold the mig, tig, plasma and 2 tanks. I'm still going back and forth between aluminum and stainless. Decisions, decisions.....

My front wheel and brake rotors showed up. Not too bad looking...I'll live with it :silly:

My welder shipped today, scheduled for delivery Tuesday. I'll need to practice an aluminum, as one of my first projects is to move the shift rod boss on the shifter from the top to the bottom.

Josh, where was it in San Diego that you ordered your tires from? I am finding myself in need of a front tire in the near future :)

Here you go: www.cyclesector.com/

They don't have quite the same deal as when I purchased my tires, but still some good prices. Something to consider when you buy tires. Almost everyone that I know who rides a sportbike bought the Power Pilot 2CT when it came out, and they do have really good traction and decent durability for an aggressive street tire. However, they do have a tendency to cup the front tire. This will lead to premature replacement. The handling gets real sketchy with a cup on your front.

I have since switched to Bridgestone BT-016's. These have comparable/superior grip, and I haven't seen any evidence of cup in the front so far. They are a few dollars more, and I really like Michelins when it comes to mounting and balancing. They are so supple, and very rarely have any significant imbalance in the tire. You can't say the same for the 'stones.

Honestly, I wanted to try a sport touring tire like a Pilot road 2CT, but the deal was too good on the PP2CT so I bought them. We'll see if the old KZ puts a cup in that front tire.

I had the same trouble with the Mich pilot sports, the front tire cupped. this seems to be the root of the flexing issue i was having last year that lead me to add more frame bracing.
i now have the Dunlop Road smart dual compound ,sport touring tire.i thought a sport tour tire might handle the weight of a kz better. as it turns out maybe the problem was more specifically related to the Mich. pilot tires? anyways i have had them on the track . i felt now slippage what so ever, at full lean (scraping the cases). so i conclude that these tires have enough grip and will last a lot longer. i read a review on them and they did say that they were good for the odd track day. i agree 100 %.
