I say that you should be able to achieve that chamfer with a little judicious file work. Thankfully the chamfers on the R6 rearsets have soft edges. Easier to replicate since the hard-edged ones will give away any uneveness immediately.

New neighbors are soo much fun. Patientce is a virtue.

Great job on those support plates. they are going to look like the were always part of the bike.the chamfer will seal the deal, for sure.B)

one of those wheels that goes on your grinder that has the overlapping emery cloth would be real nice to give a nice smooth level surface after/inplace of some filing.

I have never wanted to punch an old woman so much in my life. She picked up my 6 year olds' stuffed animal off the sidewalk the other day, then told her she may keep it or throw it away. When I went to retrieve the toy, the woman demanded an apology from my daughter and told me I was a bad parent. When I politely requested she leave disciplining my children to me, she told me she would say whatever she wanted to my girls. I live at the end of a culdesac and she just rented a house 2 doors down.
Like I said, I have never wanted to punch an old woman until now

I'm glad the adapter brackets are acceptable fellas. I'll try the file and the flapper disk, see which is easier to control. Thanks Leon, Josh, Mark, tdub :cheer:

Oh man, sounds like you got a winner for a neighbor there. I moved away from the crazy old lady neighbor when I moved to Spring. They are tough to deal with. You always come off looking like an asshole when you react to something that they do. You don't happen to know the owner/landlord do you?

I've meet the owners a couple of times..they seemed like nice people. I'm sure they figure if they can keep a renter that pays, screw what the neighbors think :S It just sucks ass to have lived here since 1993 and everyone on the street gets along, all our kids are friends and play together, then BOOM! Bitch ass old woman moves in and starts pissing her neighbor off. But I digress, my project forum isn't the ideal place to vent

So, while waiting for my shock (should be hear tomorrow), I started on the frame bracing. Taking a page out of Tony Foals literature, I beagan with cross bracing the down tubes. I can't tell you why I started there, I just did.
Don't worry Josh, still planning on an undertail system ;)

So here is the stock down tubes-

Then I cut a piece of 7/8" .065 wall tubing that I'm using for the tubular bracing, coped it on the bench grinder and tacked it in place.

Now, the next part is trickier. I needed to make 2 pieces to complete the "X" in the down tubes. I got the top piece fitted and tacked.

Thats it so far. The third piece is proving even more difficult to fit in and have it be symetrical and square with the tubes tacked in place. I'll get it though. I still have 4' of stock left to get it right

That last leg of the x is always the most difficult. Looks good so far.
