Hmm, sounds like more work than I want to do.
I'm thinking if I go black I may put an offset Kawi Green stripe on my tank and tail, or go kawi green on those parts fully. But that wouldn't be for a while.
I'm leaning towards black a little bit, since the blue didn't hold up to rust very well. It's only been five years since I repainted it, and there was a good amount of rust starting to peek through the paint. Maybe I'll spray on bedliner!

Should have some more pics this weekend. One way or another the frame will be painted, and my cases and jugs will be sandblasted, along with an assortment of other parts.
Where should I look for thread chasers? I'd need M6, M8, and M10 I guess. I have new class 12.9 socket head cap screws to replace everything in my engine except for the main cap bolts. I love those black screws against polished covers, gonna look gooooooood.

Ok, plan is to spray the frame the next nice day, I have nowhere inside to do it. In the meantime, after much cursing, my forks are fully assembled. So thats out of the way. Now I need to cut the old race off my steering stem, and I'm not doing it with a dremel. I think I can get in the machine shop this week for that though.
I'm also contemplating putting on the CBR rearsets I have. I need to make a couple threaded dealies to weld on the frame, but I can do that today no problem.
Seems like all I do is write novels and never post pictures, but when I get working I will. My gf has my camera though, so no machine shop pics this week. Main thing this week though is getting my engine blasted so it can go out to be bored and whatnot. I just need to get out and pick up about 100lb of sand.

How are you painting? HVLP or rattle? What color did you decide on?
Forks are always fun until you have done them a few times.

You may be able to find them cheaper somewhere else, this was just the first place i came across
I need to get the same thread chasers, my bolts did not want to thread in easily after blasting my cases
The porting looks awesome! I'm getting a sneek peek at the work Larry will be doing to my head...when I get the money and parts together to send to him
I agree about the contrasting black bolts and the cleaned/polished aluminum, it looks sick. I was going to go that route as well, with the addition of drilling and safety wiring the bolt heads together. Not that they really need it, but it looks trick and can't hurt!

Man the old steering stem bearing material is hard! I decided to cut it off in the milling machine this morning, and I had to use a carbide insert mill to get through it, and run it sloooooow. I still ended up breaking an insert when the race shifted on my last pass, but oh well, I got it off without hurting my stem, thats the main thing.

So I got my cylinders back yesterday, woohoo!! So today I brought my upper crankcase into the machine shop and bored them to fit the 750 liners. Gonna start into full speed ahead any day now. I just have to get a broken bolt out of my bottom crankcase, then I can prep and paint my engine and start assembly!!
Stay tuned for pics, I lost my SD card so my camera is out of action for a bit. Also, Leon should be posting up some pics soon of my swing arm bracing. In other news, my calipers are back together, powder coated with a rebuild kit and fresh SBS pads. That's about it for now, I'll try to get some pics up soon.

Don't know how I missed this post Josh. But I decided on black, a local hot rod guy says he likes to use Tremclad reduced in his paint gun and apparently it works great. So I'm gonna do that, with my HVLP.
Gonna wait a bit for that, till I have absolutely every little bit I wanna paint done and I get my swingarm back, then I can put together a nice rolling chassis and just build the thing, the engine will def be built by then.

Glad to hear that someone is making progress this week. I have been stalled out for a while. Any idea how much hp to expect from your engine build?

Not a clue. But I guess since the GPz750 was listed with 92, I should be well upwards of that. I have GPz cams, my 650 head which flows more now than a stock J head, and she's 810cc. So I guess I wouldn't be unrealistic to say she might make a little over 100hp at the crank. Too bad the only dyno in my province can't do bikes, I'd be really interested to see how powerful she is when done.
Can't wait for monday, I can get in the shop again to get that bolt out, then its prep the engine for paint time!

I would think that 100 hp should be sufficient from a 650. Did Larry give you flowbench results from your head?
