Oh my...

So my neighbor was in Japan for many years, he is "Navy". Cool guy he has a nice older Honda VFR.

"Paul" has been getting me to look at Goo Bike.com

I am sitting in the Las Vegas airport waiting for the airborne Greyhound bus. Spent a few days at the SEMA show, got to meet Bryan Fuller (he is a builder on TV) the bikes he built are amazing when seen in person, a couple of Honda CB fours.

Very nice guy. SEMA had a great collection of bikes, but they were scattered all over, they should really have a bike section.

I talked with a Dynatek rep, he does not recall my e-mail regarding the issue, but with the typical "CALIFORNIA" smile promised all would be well. Hmmmmm.....?

Ignition updates to follow. If you ever get the chance to go to SEMA I highly recommend it.

Update on Ignition..

I talked with a fella name of "Larry" from Dyna at Sema, he told me to e-mail the situation to him.

Larry got back to me, and explained what was going on. So so far it is thumbs up for Customer service at Dyna.

Still waiting on the replacement box. Bike is good to go, needs headlight and tailight.

Ok the ignition is back, must have rebuilt or replaced it at Dyna, all good there.

I am thinkin' if anyone from Dyna is reading this they at least owe me a dam t-shirt or something. Today I stopped at Steves shop, the ignition is firing, he is syncin the Carbs.

Friday it goes to the Dyno for re-jetting, running a little lean right now. Almost there!!

You guys are all great.. ;) ... posting the good words, the bike may have been a smokin' melted pile of mulch, :angry: but I gave up on the "flamethrower" idea, when I realized I would have to build that too.

Steve the shop owner says all kinds of his customers have been complimenting the bike. A certain Italian friend of mine is already asking how much$$$ for it. The shop (hospital) stay has been worhtwhile (see flamethrower comment) as it has re -energized my motivation.

After the Dyno tuning, and jetting I just need to fix a couple small items, put aome lights on it and it is ready to go.

If you are reading this and contemplating your own project...I started this in 2003.. This project has survived a deployment to Iraq, an 800 mile move, and a significant Dirt bike wreck (me) to finally come to a close. Dedication, and patience.

How did you do the holes in the clutch cover like that? Dont know if i want to do it with my 81' or not but i would mind knowing how. Do you just use a step bit and drill them out?

i went to a motorcycle a motorcycle museum in Anamosa IA. Would recommend checking that out whenever your out in the middle of nowhere :D There was one 1974 Z1900 in their collection but for the most part its just really old harleys.

This is good question.

I bolted the cover to a 1 inch peice of smooth birch plywood using the existing case hole. Then I got the board squared to the angle you see in the holes, so the cover was kinda tilted off horizintal.

I used a height gage with a scribe, scribed out a horizantal set of lines equal distande apart. The flipped the board verticle and did the same, now you have a checker board grid, you just center punch each intersection.

I used a bridgeport to drill the holes while the cover was still nounted to the board, but a drill press would work, just takes longer.

And you must have used a square bit for the square hole? :laugh: :lol: :ohmy:
