How are you setting up the fork stops? I'm just curious as I still have to do that on my front end and I have an idea but was curious what your solution is.

they will be a bolt in deal Doug...that way you should be able to locate them where you need to regardless of the year of bike or style of "stock" stops.
what is you idea?

I have a Gsxr style steering damper on my bike. The mounting bolt is setup in the middle and close to the bottom of the steering neck. My thought was to run a spacer and slightly longer bolt to act as the frame stop. On the bottom clamp I'll have some stops welded on to go up against the bolt/spacer. That way the bolt will serve two purposes.
The stock nub on the backside of the steering neck had to be removed as the thicker aluminum Gsxr lower clamp interfered with it.

Re: Pen's Z1
29 Apr 2009 09:22Here is what I did in the past on the '73.
I cut the stock stop off the frame and decided to use the stops on the bottom tree and mod the frame stops....so I just welded a couple of boss' onto the neck...it works well...
however on this one I wanted to keep the stock tabs ( not everyone has the ability /access to a welder).
so I figured if i could come up with a "stud" of sorts....drill and tap where it needs to be on the bottom clamp...it would be more universal.
I thought about keeping the stock dampner ....it looks cool on your set up....

I was going to do stops something like you had but from my photo you can see that the stops on the clamp are too far away from the neck to do that properly. Anyways here's what the stabilizer setup looks like with a 8" Gs headlight mounted. Don't mind the huge fork clamps I'm not going to use those.

I'm diggin' the "skeleton" headlight brackets.
