Yeah, you are right: it doesn't make sense, but it's still happening. And yeah, I've used in-line filters yet still something is 'amiss'. It "feels" electrical, but everytime we dive in we get a little 'debris' in the carbs; additionally everytime we clean the carbs then put it back out on the road it runs good for a longer period of time. Inspecting the tank the KREEM looked relatively evenly applied but there was one spot that was missed, but not a big deal. There was a skinny 'stalagtite' hanging from the bottom of the tank to the top so I poked it a bit and it came off and under the KREEM you could see some surface issues.
It's a running issue so it can only be fuel/fire/air. I am going to eliminate the fuel tank as a possible culperate and go from there.

I tell ya, I wouldn't even mess with this thing and I'd have parted it out lonnnnng ago if the stupid thing wasn't such a total blast to ride. I'm not going to lie, it still might win, but I'm not going down without a fight.

It's got ZRX coils and I tried to purchase a new ignition, but the one-year-wonder bugaboo has bought me and finding an ignition has proven nearly impossible. We'll see.

BK, Just an idea here... do you have access to spare tank to ride around with for a little while to see if the problem follows the tank? Could save some time and money... maybe. Best of success :) Bill

I appreciate that thought; but no, these things are one-year-wonders and although I think KZ700 tanks would work, they're pretty hard to come by, I'm just going to knock it out this way. I couldn't - in good conscious - sell this tank without being certain of it's condition (in the event that this doesn't fix it). Again, thanks!

By the way, anybody know of a good stripper to send the tank to? I had 'saved' a place in my favorites for just such an event, but that was one-crashed-computer ago.
