Oh, saving the best for last apparently:

THANK YOU BLITZKRAIG !!!
Kraig is the guy responsible for the bike actually RUNNING and therefore responsible for me not committing suicide. Seems that the less you practice something the worse you become at it and my wrenching skills don't even rate on Kraig's rating scale. Blitzkraig is a true mechanical genius, his own bikes all attest to this, and now so does mine. My present to Kraig on his last birthday was to bring him my bike to work on...nice friend, me.

Thanks Kraig old buddy! You're a true friend!!!

@ TB...

"up here in the great white north they are getting 275.00 for a set of k&n pods so i envy you guy's just a bit. if the parts were cheaper up here i'd have twice as many bikes up and running."

Tim, e-mail me what you need... We can set something up where I'll buy and mail to you if it's cheaper with mailing costs then why not...

The latest incarnation...proper looking Kerker megaphone has the asthetic impact that I'm looking for.

Next: Dyna ignition.
Comments welcome! :)

Oh, and once again: Thanks Blitzkraig! The man behind the header magic. If I am right the header is a V&H collector, the meg is a Kerker (obviously), and the mid-pipe is Blitzkraig craft as well as the prep/paintwork on the entire exhaust.
Thanks buddy!

And ... the resurection begins. I've been struggling with a driveability problem with the bike since I got it back from Rhode Island. One issue was that the carbs seemingly needed cleaning over and over. The fuel tank has been KREEM lined (man, I hate that crap). So, here we go. I'm taking the tank off and having it stripped ... grrrrrrr. Looks kinda funny naked ...

Here's the tank. It's a 5-footer ... looks great from 5 feet, but you get close enough and there's been a lot of UV-combat going on with the paint, there is no clear-coat.

And here are the 'goodies' that complete the tank.

Very surprisingly - upon inspection - there seems to be no damage to the tank, no bondo (Thank GOD!) but I still have no confidence in the KREEM liner.

So, here's the plan: strip the tank to bare metal. Prep the interior with either POR15 or Rustall, then shoot "something" on the outter part of the tank to protect it while I make one more go at solving the carb problem. If this is "it": bodywork off to the painter; I think I'm going back to the stock red, black, white (with some subtle 'touches') and she lands her spot in the garage. If this doesn't solve the problem ... :pinch:

After-market in-line fuel filter is essential.

Dual fuel lines -- each requires its own separate in-line filter.

These filters will stop most of the crud from entering the carbs.

Good Fortune! :)

BK... Gee, that tank sure looks good from the outside??? What does the inside look like... if you can see much. It just does not make sense... if you have new hoses and inline filters and cleaned fuel valve and cleaned carbs then where the heck is the bad stuff coming from  ??? It just does not make sense. Am following with great interest!
