Now for the shifter build up. I cut the shift arm and used 5/16" hardware for the assembly. In the picture is a nylon bushing to keep everything in place. I originally was going to use a spring, but the tension was all wrong causing some binding and I thought this was a better solution to my problems.

And another shot at the build up and linkage.
I should say that linkage came from another bike I had laying around here (I think a CL350) and I had an extra KZ750 shift lever that I bent and cut to fit the linkage.

My next project is to work on the seat. I have an extra and I am planning have the rear seat turned into a hump that will flow into the fender.

Here is my last photo of the bike. I do have larger pictures of everything so let me know if you would like to see anything in better detail.
Here is one last shot until I get my seat done.

That is looking really good. Nice work on your rear sets. You said you had lots of comfortable miles on your prior set up, how do you like the new set up as far as any sort of distance ride. 50/100 miles?

There is the rub; I have not had a chance to take the bike for a spin of this distance. It is still winter here in Wisconsin. I will say that the foot pegs feel great (like my FJ) but the handle bars feel lower. I usually don't ride this KZ for more than 300 miles in a day. I am wondering how this will feel at the end of that distance.
Time will tell!

Here is a picture photo-chopped to show what I would like to do with the extra seat I have.
