On the plugs...I swapped the BP out for the factory spec plug (not the best shape) after gapping to spec and the bike didn't have enough spark to fire. Swapped em back to the newer BP that are supposedly incorrect and it fired right away. I did notice later my + battery connection was loose from fkng with my push-button starter so it could've been that. Nbd, I ordered factory spec plugs cuz' I couldn't find em' locally but I also compared the BP to the correct plug and the length is exactly the same. Didn't seem to be a longer reach. Anyways, bike continues to impress and I'm still afraid to pull the carbs haha. Oh i've got my air/idle screws out 1 turn on all 4, seems to like it, possibly a touch rich, maybe 1 1/4 is the sweet-spot.

I also got a 80 XS400 for free! Kicker was seized but with the help of some diesel and a large crescent she's free. I'll leave that for a separate forum though...BLASPHEMY!! :)

Here is the difference between the two plugs.

The 14mm thread appear same length, the ceramic and electrode extend.

I think the phrase has strong ties to the days when dropping acid was the thing to do.

Remember Cheech and Chong?

Spotify? What's that, a laundry stain lifter? I I forgot, the thing to do is drop the laundry off at mom's house.

Who you calling OLD? :)

Actually I was stationed at Fort Carson Colorado when this song was all the rage.

John Denver is cool.. sheesh Steve.. ACTAULLY John Denver was an extremely talented singer / guitarist and songwriter.. And I hear he was pretty handy with hang gliders and experimental aircraft. Not so good at keeping the fuel tank full. (please excuse the crudeness of the experimental aircraft statement)

I liked John back in the day. And yes he was quite a talented individual in many areas. I recall being a bit upset with him when it was discovered he had a secret stash of gasoline at his place when we mere mortals were waiting in lines to get 5 gals of go-juice. But he liked using the "far out" verbiage a lot. All his talk about the Rocky Mountains did entice me to take my first long motorcycle trip to see what all his hype was about. I did keep a watchful on my fuel level on the trip even though I was only on a motorcycle. A Sportster no less....

Everyone should read the Wikipedia page / link I posted above. Per the NTSB.. The experimental kit aircraft john Denver died in was >modified< ( aka IMPROVED) by the previous owner. He was aware of the known bad, auxiliary fuel valve location. It says he went into an unrecoverable spin while trying to reach the fuel valve, he leaned on the stick and pushed the rudder the wrong way, attempting to turn the fuel valve. (extremely hard to turn). He had bought the plane the day before and had 30 minute orientation flight prior to his death. This "improvement" cost him his life. Don't be like John. lol

The previous owner had relocated the fuel valve to the passenger side of the aircraft, against the kit makers instructions. Probably ran out hose? Who knows?

He was flying a Rutan EZ, which has tandem seating. The passenger seat is BEHIND the pilot, so he was having to reach behind himself. Whoever installed the valve there should be set fire to.

Let's give Denver a little more credit than that. An unrecoverable spin and a dodgy valve are not the same as "controlled flight into terrain". JFk Jr. just flew his plane into the water.
