Ok, here's the breakdown. Engine is a chain drive 82, it came out of an 82 frame (badges and vin said 82 A3 LTD), it's now sitting in an 81 frame.

Lou, I just want to say, you're incredible. I can't imagine how you've had time, through all these years, to continuously help people on such a personal level, but my god am I appreciative of it all. It's crazy to me how continuously and thoroughly you support this forum. You're definitely the patron saint of KZRider haha. You have a gift, and you're using it in an incredibly noble way. Hundreds of people would have been lost without your help. This stuff is hard to wrap your head around sometimes. Even I, with a decade of brute force tinkering, barely understand most of it and don't have the time to dedicate to learning. So your help is an absolute blessing to me and everybody on this forum, and I hope you've been compensated in some way. You deserve it. If you PM me your PayPal link or something, I'd like to send you some money, if you'll accept it.

With that said, I'm going to start rewiring my 1980 KZ750 H1 today and might be back here to ask a question or two, or maybe ask for a diagram if you're available (I'll gladly pay you for your time). I downloaded a few of the diagrams that you posted here and I think they're exactly what I need, but I might be back if I run into trouble.

Seriously, thank you so, so much, for your years of service to this forum. You are an absolute blessing to so many of us. I can't thank you enough.

Aw shucks, well thanks a lot.

Please feel free to ask. I've had some serious life distractions lately, but will try to check in here regularly.

So I recently acquired an '82 KZ550 LTD from a buddy of mine to fix up. I'm a brand new bike owner, so I'm stumbling my way through this.

I'm going to need to build a new harness for the bike. I used a previous diagram you'd made for someone to mock up my own in Autocad with colored wiring. The issue is that my friend had already replaced the ignition system with Dyna S and dropped in Dyna 3 Ohm coils, so I'm not sure how this is going to need to be modified. It looks like he's already got that wired up, but I want to make sure I've got the schematic right before I start on this. I've attached pictures for reference.

Pg 22 shows the Dyna S wired up to a 78 KZ650. I think a 550 would be wired the same.

Maybe I'm missing something but I'm not seeing anything on Pg. 22

Edit: Found it on Pg. 36?

Try page 36. I originally searched via google which must be showing an archived page or something. kinda weird.
