Not a good sign...

Agree with pulling the sump cover off to inspect. Hopefully no corrosion damage.

Pulling and cleaning the oil pan and oil pump screen is an easy must do task.

Quick update

Carbs have been taking a part and clean

Here are some pictures from before

Let them soak for 24hrs on pinesol, washed out with pressure water and finished with carburetor cleaner and air

Now waiting to get the carbs rebuild kit and the dynot-jets stage 1&3

The carbs need to be taken completely apart. That includes removing each body from the rack. That is the only way you can really clean them, and it is the only way you can replace the orings on the fuel transfer tubes. Also, depending on exactly what carburetor cleaner they soaked in, the cleaner may have destroyed those orings along with the rubber parts of the enrichners.
It is much easier to do that now than to wait until they are reinstalled and leaking.

Your carbs do look pretty good after the external cleaning. The enrichment booties also look to be in good shape, be extra careful with those, since that little piece of rubber is still available, yet pricey when sooo many other parts need replacing.

BUT, I agree with the folks recommending un-ganging them to clean the rest of the area's, such as the pilot circuits that are combined with the enrichment plungers circuits.. They don't look to have sat in water or fuel varnish at all.. They are actually pretty clean internally. :-) Becareful not to loose the 1/8" detent balls and ESPECIALLY not the >tiny springs< behind the the "choke rod".. They are made of unobtanium, :pinch:

Hey guys, still working on this project but not that much progress. I'm still working on getting the tank done. Hope once that done I will install the carbs.

One thing I do need help is to getting a new seat so I was wondering if a seat for a 81 kz1000 would fit the 82 kz1100? Thunk in getting a seat from texavina website

The seat pan on the shaft and chain drive are different. Unless things changed from 81-82

Looking at them now my 81-1000ltd pan is different than my 82-1100 shaft.
