Oh? I guess that cover is above oil level so maybe just a bit might spill when I take the cover off. Gotcha!

I changed the oil Sunday. I asked the seller what kind of oil he used and he said "What it says on the fill plug."

"Motorcycle formula?"

"Just regular motor oil."

So I drained it first thing and put in a K&N filter and fresh Rotella. I put the stator in between draining and refilling.

I've been trying to get the 1000 flywheel off for a couple of hours. It's jammed on tight! I've tried everything I can think of. I've stripped the motion pro removal tool after trying to come up with a few new tricks. I'll have to take it to work and fix it and start over next chance i get tomorrow I get to rebuild a clothes dryer.

I really hope the 1100's flywheel isn't on this tight.

Maybe, or used a bigger more powerful impact wrench than I have to torque it on than I have to torque it off. There's no way that's 95 ft-lbs of torque. My Jeep head bolts are 115 Ft-lbs and they din't give me half the argument this is. The bolt came off easy enough but the the wheel is wedged on solid.

I guess I'm going to have to buy a clutch any way.

I got home and heated the piss out of the flywheel. I did it until I could smell magnets roasting. Nothing. So I figured this puppy is toast so I beat the crap out of it. OK, may be I was channeling some frustration. Busted magnet everywhere and it still wont budge. That thing is going to have to be cut off if it ever does come off. Good thing I'm never putting that heap back together.

So, I'm looking for a replacement starter clutch, any luck with the Caltric or Ideal units? They are at least half the price as the OEM units.

I took it for a nice ride today over Guardman Pass.

It ran pretty good. It's a little stubborn on starting cold. I know that's due to it needing some carb adjustments and maybe valve shims too. I'll put that at the top of the list when i have a chance to go through it a bit more carefully.

It handles.... comfortably, Not as exciting as my 750 but I have no complaints. The suspension seems a little off, a bit bouncier than i expected and I'm getting a "clunk" if I hit a sharp bump. I'm not sure if I'm bottoming out or if there is something loose elsewhere. Can anyone point me to the suspension set up specs so I can check them? The rears are tied together with air hoses that have a valve under the seat and the front has the nipple at the top of the left fork.

I figured out that I could stand up the windshield a bit more. That helped with helmet buffering and noise at moderate speeds but I still get it at highway speeds. The lack of airflow is still a bit uncomfortable down here in the valley. I also think that it pushes the bars a little to the left since it wants to drift that way if I let go, it is sitting slightly skewed on the front since the upper supports aren't symmetrical since the right is located differently to clear the MC.

I found a replacement left side cover that matches the tank in good shape. I haven't found one for the right yet that is either a good price, matches or undamaged.

That's what I was thinking but I don't want to blow a seal by over filling them to begin with. Anyone know max pressure?

I know, get the FSM. I will as soon as I get caught up a little, I've had to register 3 vehicles this month, buy a set of tires, pay for school start up crap, buy a new radiator, buy and rebuild a head, find new bike parts.....

The 550 had a sticker on it. I think it said 45lbs max. Not sure of this try at 10 and go up if needed. I put in 7 up front but it went down in no time.
