Maybe you could buy another suitcase for the headers and bring everything home that way. I think that would cost less than the shipping and tax. :-)

Suitcase is provided by my boss and is a standard size :-(
Largest object I brought home in it was a chainsaw from HomeDepot ;-)
The strangest Thing was, no problems whatsoever with security.

Then of course you should make two trips: one for the muffler and one for the headers. :laugh:

I guess that was because there was no fuel in it. With an empty tank the user cannot cause much damage.

Need help on removing tachometer part on the engine side.
Put a wrench on it and it turns but does not come out.



Any ideas?

it is only held in by o-rings .it just slips in and out.

I applaud your use of booth-less sand-blasting! No other way to get an engine THAT clean!

Sorry Eric I missed this post. I love VHT paint. Costs a bit but worth it. I have paired a heap of engines and the best process I have found if you aren't pulling it to bits is to clean and wire brush the motor within an inch of its life. Then VHT etch primer it. The etch primer stops the edges etc breaking away one painted. Etch primer sticks like shit to a blanket on the cleaned and keyed (wire brush) engine then the VHT engine paint has a base to adhere to. I use VHT Satin black Caliper paint as its the best finish. Hate gloss engines. Be careful with petrol until you have run the engine cos the paint isn't fuel proof until heated. Phew!

It worked out oke.
I tryed it with soda blast for the second time but it bloks contstantly so I gave up and just cleaned it a couple of times with aceton (?)
Looked good enough for me.

Larriken,
Paint is already on without primer.
Hope it does not come off fore a while becouse I was not planning to take the engine apart.
If it does come off or if the engine is not oke I will do a proper job next year.

Last update for now.
Painted the cylinders and some parts silver/grey.
Don't know of it stays on for long because my wife would not let me put the entire engine in the oven :(







Need some polishing to do and have to order some gaskets.
Can't wait to start putting stuff together instead of taking things apart.
But first a few days at the office and than next week taking my other toy for a road trip trough Europe.
