Bad tires, tire balance, swingarm bearings, loose axles, loose triple trees and steering neck bearings are pretty typical issues. Not sure your lighter front end would be the cause, otherwise anyone riding two up would die.

Also shaft jacking and bad/improper shocks could play a role

my bikes; 80kz1000(project), 77 gl1000, 74 h2 (project)
Past; 78 kz1000, 83 kz550

I doubt taking the heavy faring off would cause this.

From what you described, something must be very wrong.

Yep, it's hard to tell now. The front wheel is on the ground and i do not have the ability to look closer due to my limitations. I have a cpl of guys interested on the lot of stuff but no one 100% in yet. Will start a full part out when i am stronger if no one takes the lot. R

Hi Steve,

I am doing well. Np up to 90 degree flexion (stiff) of the left knee, bar comes out of my left arm 9/7, and the collarbone is limited but healing after plate and 8 screws. I have visions of trout fishing in Jan or Feb, we'll see. :cheer:

On the parts, I am open to offers. It was on craigslist with a few sniffers. The motor is worthy of a full swap it was running perfectly, so I am not sure I would tear apart before selling whole. Any other bits are on, reasonable offers + shipping considered. I also have quite a few left over parts that may be ST only, front rear calipers, etc. But a lot of the 1015cc stuff is not ST only so we'll see. What do you think a whole MKII/ST motor is worth?

Anyway, thanks for asking and I wish all safe riding.

Glad to hear you're doing better. I don't know what it would be worth and I wouldn't expect you to take it apart just for a few parts. Good luck on the sale and your healing.

i am glad you are doing better.
Scary stuff reading that even at a reasonable speed like this a crash can have that big of an impact.
i think a lot of us are hoping to find out what caused the crash because most of us are modifying our bikes to make it handle better and not worse.
Did you have a steering damper installed on your bike?

Good luck on your recovery.

Eric

Thanks Eric. No dampener. Here is my latest theory. I am still not able wrench enough to get a good observational analysis. However I remember making a mistake before the crash. Not sure if this would do it? I installed newer front brake calipers and bled them. When I put the front axle on, I accidentally torqued the front axle nut to rear axle ft-lbs. Front is 54lbs, rear almost double that by memory. My thinking here is I crushed the speedo drive or other components or perhaps offset a wheel bearing? I will get a better look this fall.
