thanks heaps mates, appreciate your support
no worries i shall proceed on the ride until its finished and then i'll start another one and the only thing that can prevent me from post whoring on here is some bloke with a big or small stick telling me how to lead my thread, what to do and what not to lol
now heres a question: a valve #8 shim was broken and it was 2.05mm thick while other shims have different thickness like 2.3, 2.4mm etc is it because of wear or every shim's sorted out to correspond the valve clearance?

Checked the FSM and yes, they are independant, at least in my bike. (1980 kz750h1 ltd, inline 4 cylinder)

Hope that helps!

These shims are used to adjust the clearance between the valve assembly and the camshaft lobe. Each valve assembly is a slightly different length, and the seated (closed) position of each valve changes over time as the valve wears. Periodic valve clearance adjustment is necessary, and this adjustment is done by replacing the current shim with a slightly smaller or larger shim.

If you don't have the factory service manual, you should try to find one. It will have detailed instructions on how to measure and adjust the valve clearance using these shims.

yup dohc ive heard about what the shims are for just wondered why such a big difference in them
i will sure check the clearences by a mockup assembling (head+cams+shims)

i do have a few pdf manuals but they are a real mess to look in, the text of poor quality and the pics are even worse
so usually i take my own pics while disassembling anything to use it as a manual on the way back
