pulled the cam cover today cams were out of time. I either was not paying attention when I assembled it or it jumped a tooth. Either way it is corrected now, Ran out of time so I am not sure if that was the only issue. Should know tomorrow after work.

Hmmm, a cork may work. I also thought about tapping and putting a nipple in it.

No need to do tap, just use a 3/4" long piece of regular 3/8", or 5/16" black fuel line(whichever one fits snug inside your well plug holes)with about 8-12" of clear line pushed into it for your fuel level gauge. Works like a charm. Cork would work too.

 Happens. Did it spit like that with the 36s?
Check your bowl vents, make sure they are clear. Set your fuel levels, then check back with us.

The cap is 15.9mm thread. The main sticks down inside the cap. Kinda sexy looking.

I might buy one for mine and use the old one as a tool.
They're the same for both the VM 33 and RS carbs.' Here's my tool I made years ago.

It's all about the timing! That goes for life and a good running bike ;-)
Cam to cam timing was off and I may have even had my ignition 180 out which is easy to do with the C5 ignition as I no longer have timing marks just a light that tells me I have the disk lined up right. I fired it up today and it took right off. I will have to adjust float height as the #1 carb pisses all over the place. Now I can start the carb tuning all over again starting with pilot screws. Time to bust out the Color Tune.

I hate to pry but could this have been the real reason the 36's weren't what you wanted?

LOL! No, it would have never ran as well as it did 180 out with the 36's. I know I was messing with the timing with the BS34'S and must have got it 180 out at that time. I do however believe that the camshaft chain was off with the 36's which had to effect my top end.

Update
RS34's are installed and synced. Float levels are finally adjusted correctly. I could not do the clear tube test as the main jets get in the way when I tried to a couple methods to get the tube in in the cap whole. I went old school and kept setting them by float height and filling them with gas until they were right. PIA. That aside I used the color tune to get the pilot circuit tuned correctly. Until I can get a test ride in I won't know how they are going to run. They seem to run very well in the garage. No smoke out of the tail pipe and no excessive heat while riding.

I got my new gauge mounted at least temporarily until I get my new triple trees. It's not wired yet but should be by tomorrow.

Bought these bad boys on Face Book KZ Market today. I think they should work well on the bike. If not they should resell easy. I got a good deal on them.
