Are the clamps the skinny ones or the wide hose clamps? the wide ones are not suggested.

I use the wide ones. The skinny ones cut the rubber.

I had a slight leak on my new #3 holder. I put a thin layer of type 2 sealant around the carb and re-mounted them. Seems to be holding even after taking therm out once or twice.

Maybe it's because your using the 36 mm holders, but like you, I wouldn't think there would be an issue with them, but maybe there is, as 9nr mentioned, I'm using the thin clamps, like this

Your rigjt, the 34's and 36's use the same carb holder. With the 36's I had to warm them up with a heat gun to get the carbs in. Maybe I stretched them out.

I'm using the thin clamps but they are a little mis-shapen. I will order some new ones.

got the carb holder leak fixed, double checked timing, still won't run worth a crap. I need some help from the experts here. When I start to give the bike throttle I start to get blow back out of the carbs. That just doesn't seem right to me. Timing chain off causing the intake valves to not be shut all the way perhaps? I really don't want to pull the head. All suggestions welcome.
