I think painted silver like the cases, a very clean look to the whole motor. Do you have an idea what you will do with the alternator cover? Maybe another detail like on the clutch cover?

Looks great! That laser cutter must be a great tool. How do you input the dimensions for whatever part you're making? I'm guessing you draw it with a CAD-type system that includes all of the dimensions and then it will cut what you have drawn? I've heard that they have these "3-D copiers" now that literally copy and produce whatever part you have but I think they're only in plastic.

They make machines that make metal parts. It's not that new, been around for many years, but the metals were limited. They even do 17-4,and some bearing steels now. They're like a bunch of layers welded together so not structural, but there are ways to make them more homogeneous. The SLS, SLA, FDM plastic machines are awesome for making parts to be molded.

Is that a ZRX slave cylinder for the clutch? I bought one a few years back to do that conversion....haven't quite started on that project yet

Thanx guys,

To cut the shape out in a laser cutter you need to make a AutoCad-drawing and convert it into a dxf-format. The machine will then read this file to get the shape and you set the starting point for each contour and press play :P

The plate is cut from 6 mm stainless steel (316 L)

The slave is from a GPZ 900 but might also be used on early ZXR´s
