Happy days! :)

Spotted these cams on ebay at DK spares.
Listed only as "Z900 CWC high lift cams with some water marking and might need a regrind".

They looked ok to me on the pic's and maybe not too wild so took a cheeky throw away punt at the £29.99 starting bid expecting not to win .

Well! To my suprise no bugger else bid (probably due to the iffy description) and i won 'em :woohoo:

They turned up this morning and result.
Norris .407 lift fast road cams in near perfect nick, an absolute bargain B) .
Couldn't have asked for a better cam to go with the engine and carb mods so once the exhaust is finished it's out with the std jobbies and in with these.

Yippee!

It's been a while as i'm recovering from a bit of modification myself but I've managed to do a few bits towards the carb rebuild so here's the latest progress.

First pic shows modified cable bracket which now takes the std zx10r cables i'm using.
A much better solution that having to make one off cables every time they need changing.

[img

The original fuel tee's were dried up and loose and also set up for twin feeds.
I've turned up some snug fitting alloy, Viton 'o' ringed big bore replacements and converted to a large bore single feed to match the single fuel tap.
The internal fuel passages to the carb float needles have also been enlarged to take full advantage of these

[img

With the carbs being bored out, the needles need lifting to compensate as they now sit lower in the needle jet.
Exact carb bores are now 29.4mm so needles need lifting half of the 3.4mm increase = 1.7mm.
By a stroke of luck the needles are sprung loaded with a plastic spacer either side of the clip.
Top spacer is 2.5mm and bottom spacer is 0.8 so as if by magic swapping the spacers over gives the 1.7mm lift I need.
:D

[img

The actual bodies I'm using are GS750 which have both fuel and air screws so i'm replacing all the internals with GS1000 keyster kits and i've also sourced a GS1000 ledar air corrector kit for when I fit the bellmouths .

A few more jobs done.

Finally got the cooler and bracket painted.

[img

Then made up this rubber mounted bracket.

[img

To take this dinky Danmoto nano cockpit dash.

[img

Which hides nicely between the oil cooler pipes.

[img

[img

Then made a bracket for the sensor.

[img

And changed the handlebar switch from an R1 to a ZX10R item.
Red ign kill is now battery power on/off for the horn and speedo.
Middle lap timer button is now the ign kill and the starter button is now the horn.

[img

Riders eye view, just need a smaller fluid res to complete the look.
